They are nice additions, certainly, but they just don't factor in for me any more.

The fanatics at AVS see nothing wrong with this regarding their BD releases. If a title doesn't have extras, ALL OF THEM say "I don't care about extras". If a BD was released in a brown paper bag and not the blue case, they would then say "I don't care about packaging." Then, if a BD was released with only half of the movie on the disc, they would then say "oh, I don't care about seeing the entire movie." Whatever a BD title leaves out is what they conveniently don't care about. A very disturbing coincidence.

Also, I'm not sure what type of response you wanted by blanketing Blu-ray owners on this forum with the thoughts of BR owners on a different forum.

This argument would be easily resolved if the MSRP on a barebones BD was $30, but it's $40 when a comparable HD-DVD disc is fully loaded at the same MSRP.

Do any BD owners get upset that Fox charges $40 list price for all of their titles and leaves off almost all the extras? It's the same tired response of "oh, I don't care about extras". But with 50 gig of space, shouldn't they be using that to it's fullest potential? Why waste the space?
So what you're saying is, since you don't care about the extras, they shouldn't be included? I bet some people out there would like them and completely replace their dvd with the fully loaded, 50gig BD version.

why would someone complain about an entire format when it's a studio by studio decision on what to release. fox made almost exactly the same moves early doors on the DVD format. plus ce change...
as far as defensive goes, it's worth noting just who is posting in what thread, owner/supporter of HD DVD.

Yes, it's a studio by studio decision, but -- aside from the dual-format supporters, they've all been remiss. Therefore, it's totally fair to criticize the format as a whole based on what we have all seen so far.
No one in their right mind would argue that Blu-Ray doesn't have potential; the problem is that the studios -- and they have ALL been guilty of this at one time or another -- are not recognizing that potential.

You didn't even respond directly to the opinions of people on this forum, you instead tried to make some blanket generalization based on the not respected opinions of people on a forum nearly universally despised here.

For either format to take off, should the discs have lots of extras? Absolutely. People like digi are proof. He's said many times he'd probably jump on BD if the discs were loaded, and goes out of his way in many threads to say what discs he would have bought if they weren't barebones.
It's just not important to me personally, and it's not because of some fanboy allegiance to Bluray.
