Chicago, I'll stick with the DVD, since it was a blind buy for me and discovered I still don't like musicals, no matter how many awards they win. Hitchhikers, I'll pick up.

I would buy both of those titles if I had a BD player, and they are significant because they are the first Disney BD titles I would buy. I'm not anywhere near ready to get a BD player yet, but I'll add those to a list of potential purchases later.

I'd buy Chicago...
Just another BD release that doesn't get my money.

So it looks like Field of Dreams is no longer a combo? Just going off the non-combo art and price listing on Amazon... good news imo. Doesn't make sense for already released titles.

I will certainly get both of these. They appear to not be combo discs either.

I know nothing. I have to assume that WB is working on their bigger franchise titles (Matrix, Batman, etc.). THAT is what is going to sell players.

Blu-ray:

Resident Evil: Apocalypse - January 16, 2007
Gridiron Gang - January 23, 2007

Note also that Sony had originally announced a January 16 Blu-ray release date for 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'; that title has now been delayed, with no new date set.

Digital Video Essentials [HD DVD] has apparently been delayed from its original 11/14 release date. Amazon now has it as 11/30; Buy.com and DDD list it as 12/5. Go figure.

The Sopranos Season 6: Part 1 is back on the schedule, this time hitting both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray on Dec. 19. Same specs/extras as the SD version. $130 each.

Dth: $99 is right but it's not every title. It's just four of them. $200 MSRP for an 8-DVD set is a bit much.

I may be getting these during the next DDD sale. I should be able to snag all eight of them for about $100.

Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment plans to continue its delivery of dual-layer 50GB Blu-ray movies early next year with the release of 4 new titles on January 23. The studio previously announced plans to ship its first 50GB Blu-ray titles on November 21 - just after the launch of Sony's PlayStation 3.

"Casanova," "Chicago," "The Guardian" and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" will debut after the holidays at a cost of $34.99 USD each. Because they utilize Blu-ray's full storage capacity, Buena Vista says the titles will contain a host of special features, including alternate endings, making of featurettes, as well as improved menus and Web connectivity for connecting to live events held by the studio.

Wow was I behind with the calendar.

I've updated the titles. Specs will follow shortly.
