Turns out they did; just not in the U.S.
I've yet to see it in stock on the site, or in the store.. so it's quite possibly an error.

It's possible that those titles were encoded by Sony when they had the distribution rights.

That was my thought too... If true, I'm wondering when that changes over?
(Not that Fox's approach to pricing and supplements gives me much hope, but we'll see.)

I just don't understand the logic of releasing an older catalog title like Rocky -- something that most people who care about already own. And putting it out with no extras (when stuff already exists), mediocre picture quality that isn't radically better than upconverting, and then charging $40 for it.

Who exactly are they marketing this stuff to?

I don't mean to drag this thread off topic... I'm just pretty frustrated with the state of releases lately. Maybe if the HD DVD side would actually make a few announcements soon, I could relax.

I'm excited for Ice Age and Dodgeball. The announcements from the BD side may not be appealing to some, but at least they are filling up their release schedule. HD DVD has unfortunately been quiet lately.

So all the HD people are complaining about BD release titles. What awesome HD-DVD ones are coming out? Where's Jurassic Park or Back to The Future then? Anyone can go and pick out crap titles from either camp (Pulse? Doom? Riddick?). It's all subjective. The three titles Fox just announced all made over $100 mil (two closer to 200mil) so I'm sure plenty of people are interested in those, including me.

I definately want to be fair since I own both formats (though my loyalty is 90/10 in favor of hd-dvd right now).

I am pissed that hd-dvd has not hardly announced anything for 2007 yet, but im also confident that those announcements are going to come. If they start releasing titles like BD is announcing though, ill be disappointed with them too.

Im expecting big titles from both formats soon. Im expecting big things from WB especially (harry potter series and Matrix series). Im wondering if they will be using BD50 now for those?? or if they will continue to be HD-DVD exclusive??

Oh yeah, and bring on The Departed in HD with TrueHD sound and IME. Ill be all over that.

Gotta give thumbs up to Amazon and UPS. Hulk was scheduled to ship today. It shipped yesterday with the 2-day UPS shipping, but was able to get here today as it came from their Delaware warehouse. Too bad my 2nd Amazon Prime trial is over. Now I'm back to the cheap ass shipping options.

Here just outside of Baltimore, I love that Delaware warehouse! I usually get orders the next day with 2-day UPS shipping... I'm paying for Prime now, but I think it's well worth it, at least as long as the 10% deal is still good.

Bizarrely, I cancelled my pre-order of Hulk, but they still sent it to me and charged my card. Schmucks.

^We'll see what they actually release.

Remember that the insert for HD DVD back in April (and still included with new titles) claimed that titles like The Matrix and The Shawshank Redemption were coming to HD DVD in 2006.

Once again, all appear to be devoid of any extras whatsoever except for a trailer. You'd think by this point, Blu-ray discs would have started to take advantage of all those extra gbs. It is baffling, really.

All of those would be must buys for me. If these are released (good quality and extras), BD starts to gain alot of steam in my mind.

I would grab all but Thomas Crown....those are some of my favorites and must buys....the lack of extras is EXTREMELY disturbing. They have SEs that have alot of extras. I dont want to have to keep the old sd dvds!!

BD releases are starting to look promising to me (titles at least).

Futureshop is also showing Brazil for January 30, 2007. If true, it looks like Universal is pretty interested in getting all their Criterion-licensed titles out on HD....

Brazil was recently shown on Universal HD (and I believe it will be again shortly). Did anyone catch it? I am also wondering what the quality was like. Regardless I will pick it up since I only have the original Criterion Non-Anamorphic release.

The recent anamorphic Criterion version looked pretty great. Although I'm sure Universal will be using a different master (maybe), it has the potential to look amazing.
