Crap, I didn't hear anything about Memento either being that terrible, I just ordered both of those.

From the review:

Despite its good points, I was quite disappointed with this transfer in the end, because I saw a frequent and unacceptable amount of video noise and compression artifacts. Much has been made of the bugs that continue to hamper the Samsung BD-P1000 first-gen Blu-ray player (the only consumer deck currently available on the market) as well as Sony's continued use of the MPEG2 compression codec. I really don't know where the fault lies, but judging by how this disc looks on what we, as consumers, have available to us today, these kind of problems are very frustrating. There are frequent areas of the picture, both during the color and black & white segments, where macroblocking and video noise are clearly visible (and it isn't film grain, which would be consistent in size). This disc just isn't up to snuff, and I only hope it is the hardware, and not the software.
-----------------

I really like the CE of this movie and wouldn't give up any of the SEs. I think this movie is prime for a BD SE when they start pimping more of Nolan's movies.

So, where did you read that Saw 2 also has a bad transfer?

I tried to find the review, but Google is not helping. For now, I'll withdraw the comment.

HOT buy.com deal. Basically they are matching amazon.com prices but with google checkout, they are much cheaper. $19.99 titles for under $12, here I come!

Yeah, there is some seriously awesome deals to be had there. I am only a little bit hesitant because sometimes shipping from Buy.com can be slow. I am also in the middle of dealing with a problem where they sent me the SD DVD of Hulk instead of the HD DVD.

I watched Memento over the weekend and was rather pleased with it, honestly. And where did you read about the Saw II transfer? It just came out today, and I've seen no reviews on it.

I now realize that it was SAW, not SAW II that I was remembering about the transfer. Hopefully we get a BD review of SAW II soon.

Oh, yeah, Saw's transfer doesn't sound like it is that great. Which is a shame, since I sold my Saw disc a while ago, not to mention it isn't the unrated cut. I'm sure they will double dip on it soon enough.

Be more careful next time. I've been known to kill people for less severe mistakes than that .

I had a similar experience with them. They sent me the fullscreen sd dvd of nacho libre instead of the hd-dvd...I contacted customer service in email and they were VERY slow in responding.

In short, they kept asking me the same damn questions (like is it still unopened and so on) and would only answer every few days. Anyways, one day, they said, Sorry we cant refund you since its past 14 days. I bitched and complained and they finally refunded me (i ordered from somewhere else).

If you paired it up with something else you were wanting anyway to spread out the shipping costs a little bit it would be a very good deal.
Did you end up receiving your copy of Clerks II yet? I put in an order with them and only received the Mummy Returns and they sent a form saying it was backlogged

Yeah, I got it on Wednesday -- nice turnaround.

Sorry about it being backlogged, but you are getting it for like half price, so it's still a good deal, right?

Holy crap. HD-A2 for $409 w/ free shipping from Amazon. The 3 free HD-DVD rebate is also still going on, was there a price drop or something?

Amazon's price for The Prestige was $22.69. I pre-ordered on 12-31 for $20.42 with the 10% discount.

$23.95 is Amazon's normal price for the $34.99 list titles. The $22.69 was one of Amazon's temporary drops that you have to jump on when you see them.

I just picked up a used A1 for $200 from a media exchange store and it includes a BB 4 year warranty (40 months left!).

I was planning on using part of my tax return on a A2, but I'm pretty happy spending half that amount.

It means more movies.
