www.fye.com has it for $69.99. You can use coupon code WELCOMECCTEN or WELCOMEMPTEN to get 10% off with free shipping. This will bring the price down to $62.99 plus tax. Then there is a $10 mail-in rebate available which would make the total cost to be around $53-$56, depending on your state tax.

You can now pick up a Samsung 1400 BR player for $350. Both Crutchfield and One Call have it at this price and they are very trustworthy e-tailers. They both quite often have coupons as well.

For those looking at the Samsung 1400, I would read about it on the AVS Forum. Seems like a buggy player.

From the sounds of it, the new Panasonic seems to be a winner.

^Only if you have, or plan to purchase, a new HDMI 1.3 receiver with TrueHD and DTS-HD-MA decoding ability. The Panny BD30 does not have on-board decoding ability for those new lossless audio formats. For older receivers it extracts and outputs the DD or DTS core.

I've had two Samsung devices in my life; a cell phone that was great and an upconverting DVD player that was not very good ( you had to manually change the resolution to 1080i everytime you powered it back on. And the picture got darker with time (2 years).

I've got a Samsung LCD monitor and a Samsung LCD HDTV (which I choose theirs over all others after nearly two years of painful, meticulous research and deliberation) and they're both of insane quality. Samsung makes a great product if you look at their top line stuff.

No, just like many companies nowadays, they have some really great products and some bad ones too. Sony is very similar.

I have had 2 of their rear projection DLPs (still have a 71 in version and sold my other to my brother-in-law) and they are SPECTACULAR. Personally, I do not think there is a better company for DLP sets. I also recently bought a 40 in LCD for my living room and its great too so far.

Ive owned MANY Samsung products in the past (fridge, tvs, monitor, cell phone and dvd players). The only ones that were crap were their upconverting dvd players (when they were first released).

Yeah, I've had a Samsung 32" LCD TV for about a year and a half now and it works great. And believe me, I use the thing as both my bedroom TV and computer monitor so it's on A LOT.

Of course I still have it under warranty just in case.

I just read on another board that Wal*Mart has a misprice on the Prison Break Season 1 Blu-Ray. It seems to be ringing up for $29.86 at many locations, so it's probably chain-wide. I'm going to check tomorrow and will report my findings.

I saw that as well and checked at my local Wal-Mart (Saginaw, TX - near Ft. Worth)....it rang up $69 so this is YMMV.

^

My confidence just dropped, but I'll still venture into that ghastly store in hopes that it'll ring up for thirty bucks. Thanks for the info.

Yesterday I saw the Sony BDP-S301 Blu-ray Disc player selling for about $378 at Sam's Club. I believe that the 301 is the Sam's Club/Costco version of the BDP-S300. These are older Profile 1.1 players, of course.

I had expected that Profile 1.1 players would arrive soon after October 31. But, save for the Panasonic BD30, it appears that BD player manufacturers are clearing out stock of the old Profile 1.0 machines this holiday season. I guess that we will have to wait until next year to get more 1.1 players released.

Deep Discount lowered the price of the Die Hard BD boxset. It now matches Amazon's $82.95 price. With the 20% off code, it takes it down to around $66 shipped.

There's a 20% off sale over at moretonbayblu-ray.com with the prices reflecting the reduction. It looks like most prices are better than Amazon's 10% HDM discount for those of you that have that. I've never ordered from this place before, so I'm hoping somebody else has something to say about how reliable they are.

Yes it is. I went ahead and canceled my order and got it at DDD instead. I'll wait an extra week if it means saving another 8 bucks.

I order just about all my HDM from MoreTonBayBlu-Ray.. Prices are just as competitive as Amazon and she ships wicked fast. I typically get newer releases Monday before street if not sometimes Saturday or Friday!! Never had an issue either.

Holy crap their prices are way better than Amazon. Superbad is about $6 cheaper and 3:10 to Yuma is $7 cheaper. I ordered those 2 and The Rock and Sunshine. Amazing deals.
