Linkinprime, this was the deal I was waiting for. I picked up a crapload of blu ray titles as well, along with Top Gun, The Warriors, and The Untouchables.

I'm in the same boat. Fortunately two from the new promo I wanted(POTC1 and Prestige) are in the B1G1 at Best Buy this weekend.

The Living Landscapes 9 disc HD DVD Collection $69.95 at Amazon. I got my $7.00 HD discount plus it was in my gold box for an extra $3.50 off. Only $59.45!

An additional note on this sale is the 10% off is applied before subtracting regular price of the free items. So it effectively ends up being BOGO +20% off.

^Those of us who purchased three HD DVDs, BDs, or a player from Amazon in 2006 get 10% off of all of our high def discs through the end of this year. The deal is no longer available, but a lot of us here have it.

2001 on Blu Ray was in my bottom section of the Gold Box today for $18. With the extra 10% it is a real steal.

There are reports that Heroes HD-DVD set will be free with the purchase of an Xbox 360 HD DVD addon at Best Buy this Sunday.

Hold on though. Something tells me they're not going to consider the addon an HD DVD player, so you won't get the 2 free discs.

BTW, can someone post a link to the current 5 free offer? The only one I can find required you buy the player by September 30.

I grabbed this from Amazon: http://images.amazon.com/media/i3d/0...b08_form_2.pdf.

Also, I agree with you about them not considering the 360 add-on an "HD-DVD player." The deal is still great with Heroes, and I'll still give it a shot on Sunday, but I bet it will be a huge YMMV.

I may jump onboard with this deal as well. I haven't bought many DVDs lately, but this seems like a good deal.

I will probably even try to unload the Heroes DVDs and make some money back. There are a few titles i like on the 5 free, but nothing much in category D or E.

I think i will wait and see how the 2 free in store works out.

I noticed that Close Encounters dropped a couple dollars to $32.95 at Amazon, total after 10% deal is $29.65 shipped.

The 2 free HD DVDs w/Heroes/360 addon is confirmed by the company itself to be legit (Best Buy).

I just picked up the 360 addon, 300, Transformers, and Heroes (raincheck for it) for $179 after I used some reward zone coupons.

But now I'm wondering if I would be better off selling the 360 addon (taking the UPC for the 5 free) and getting a standalone player? I wasn't really overly thrilled with using the addon anyways, and now I'm reading it may increase the chances of getting the RROD.

How is the A20 (or other ~$300 and under HD players) vs. the 360 addon?

The HD-A30 is supposed to be awesome and it's $328 on Amazon right now. I was going to do the add on deal, and I actually had one before and thought it was pretty good, but I can't stand having a semi-crippled player that's relying on an extremely sketchy piece of hardware. It's an unbelievable deal, I can't fault anyone for picking one up at that price and package, but I'd rather wait and spend a bit more for the stand alone.
