Exactly....these releases are sometimes spur of the moment it seems.

He is probably alluding to that the studio would want to release as much info on a HP release as soon as possible to milk it for all it is worth to sell more HD players and make as much of a big deal as possible on a blockbuster.

HELL YES. MI3 was easily one of the better Summer blockbusters this year.

Definately was....I was surprised that people's views of Tommy kept them from seeing it. It was really a fun summer flick!

Ill be preordering this as soon as its available!

It sucks that it wont have ALL the special features of the SD disc, but the ones they are not including dont sound that great anyways. AND, it will have hd exclusive content!

Huh. Jigga denied that. He hasn't been wrong thus far.

I believe it was always Orion. And, to my knowledge, MGM has the worldwide distribution rights for all Orion titles still.

Correct. Robocop was never a Carolco production.

I dont know why I was thinking that....I was probably getting it confused with Total Recall.

RockStrongo 08-11-06 12:48 PM

More MI3 with pictures...

http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/sh...Format_Bow/170

So, it says that both hd releases will have Dolby Digital Plus 5.1....Would that be incorrect for BD??

Nice that the IME is on the hd-dvd version.

Oliver Clothesoff 08-11-06 01:16 PM

man, the HD/BD cover is much better than the SD.

Agreed....I think it looks sharp....closer to the sd covers of MI1 and 2.

Im hoping Paramount releases those soon too!

The Bus 08-11-06 02:21 PM

Yay! Even if the picture quality is the same, HD-DVD has extras Blu-Ray does not! I guess those 5GB do make a difference. :)

Yeah, so shouldnt the BD version be cheaper than the HD-DVD?? ;)

The studios can encode their Blu-rays with DD+ right now if they want to. The problem is that the first-gen players only extract the standard Dolby Digital "core" bitstream and ignore the rest.

Ah ok gotcha...I knew there was something up with BD and DD+.

digitalfreaknyc 08-11-06 03:56 PM

Robocop has been delayed.

From the Blu Bits:
just a little Blu-ray-related FYI: Sony has informed us that because the distribution of MGM titles has moved to 20th Century Fox, they'll no longer be releasing the Blu-ray Disc version of RoboCop. It's been pulled from their schedule. Look for it to be rescheduled for release by Fox later this year, once Fox officially announces their first Blu-ray Disc releases.

Artman 08-11-06 05:10 PM

Wow, MI:3 will be the first HD 2-disc set... might be my first title I pick up, assuming I can get the 360HD add-on soon after.

Skoobooz 08-11-06 05:48 PM

EDIT: Whoops, the cover art says two discs.

That's very promising for other HD sets. But I wonder why it needs two discs...it doesn't really look like there's that much content (or more so than any other HD set).

digitalfreaknyc 08-11-06 06:10 PM

I don't think it's 2 discs. The BD says the same thing and that's impossible because they can't use 2 discs unless they're two BD discs (which I seriously doubt).
