Slither! I'm picking that one up for sure. As for the F&F films, only if the PQ and SQ is awesome.

I saw the Blu-ray discs of SPECIES and STEALTH on the shelf of a regional retailer yesterday. These aren't due out until next week. The packaging for SPECIES indicated two commentaries and a couple of featurettes were included, which is a step in the right direction for this format. No luck with the Paramount HD-DVDs being out early though!

No offense but WB needs to get their shit together. They're seriously pissing me off. WHERE ARE THE RELEASES!?!?

Seriously, WB better be planning an onslaught of HD DVD's starting next month, or I will be very disappointed. Three titles for the entire month? That is pretty weak.
|
You could be Universal... 2 titles...

Yep, that upcoming announcement from WB that was mentioned on AVS hasn't happened yet. And I hope ATL wasn't it.

from the Blu-Bits:
"While we're talking high-def, you should know that Warner is about to officially announce the HD-DVD/Combo format release of Good Night, and Good Luck. We don't have the exact street date and price yet, but we expect that shortly. In the meantime, the studio has confirmed that both the HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc versions of the film will include the same extras that were on the DVD release, specifically audio commentary with writer/director George Clooney and writer/producer Grant Heslov, the Good Night, and Good Luck Companion Piece featurette and the film's theatrical trailer. Both high-def versions will also include 1080p video and English Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio. We expect the video will be MPEG-2 on the Blu-ray Disc and VC1 on the HD-DVD, but we'll have to confirm that to be sure." Looks like WB's future plans will be revealed soon. They go on to say that the Extended Edition of King Kong is set for 11/14. Maybe the HD DVD will be on that date or soon after. |
Damn, Stir of Echoes would be the second BD title I'd be interested in after Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.

I just saw that Amazon has We Were Soldiers listed for release on August 1st, did I miss that announcement and has anybody seen that confirmed?

Videobusiness is reporting that Kong sd-dvd is announced...Unfortunately, no hd-dvd is in the announcement...
http://www.videobusiness.com/article/CA6354846.html Maybe someone at comiccon will ask the reps about the hd-dvd (thedigitalbits maybe?). |

Theres also rumors on avsforum that New Line wont be releasing anything til next year at the earliest....not sure if they are true.
I would think that the WB exec would know more than others (since he commented about them at VSDA). Even if production has not started on any of their titles. Of course, they could also be using the title on their site to sell their players. |
And there is also the rumor that V for Vendetta will still street August 1st.
WB better send out a press release today. |
