"Product development issues, due to taking extra care on exclusive bonus features, also are holding up Warner’s earlier announced blue chip HD DVD titles Batman Begins and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, according to Nickerson."

I'm dying for Batman Begins, but at least it's good to know they're taking care of it.

Fettastic 07-21-06 02:53 PM

I am going to be SO BROKE on 9/26! :hump:

UGH!!!! ONE OF MY TOP 10!!!

Lionsgate Home Entertainment today announced "Saw II", "Rambo: First Blood", "American Psycho (Uncut)" and "Young Guns" will be released on Blu-ray October 17. This news comes hot on the heels of their Comic-Con wave 2 announcement at Comic-Con just a couple days ago. Observant readers will also recognize October 17 as the day Buena Vista will roll out five Blu-ray titles of their own.

All four wave 3 titles will be presented in 1080p video with DTS HD High Resolution ES and 5.1 Dolby Digital Surround EX audio options and carry an SRP of $29.99. It looks as if no extra features will be included.

Id be interested in AP, but its probably not gonna have the features that the Killer edition has. The others im not to keen on.

But, I wish WB would hurry up and announce some more titles. I guess they are all on vacation.

BTW - were did you see this announcement?

No extras...on any of them, i don't think.

Drexl 07-24-06 04:24 PM

American Psycho is one of only 5 or 6 titles in Lions Gate's catalog I would consider buying.

Guess we just have to hope those Lion's Gate rumors are true.

Btw...

A Few New Japanese HD DVD Releases 08/25

The Pianist
Jersey Girl
Oliver Twist

Not much in the way of real details yet but it is official.

Cinemaddiction 07-24-06 04:47 PM

Bah. Upconverted AP w/ extras would probably still rival a BR edition, anyway.

flashburn 07-24-06 05:56 PM

I really, really hope LG starts releasing on HD DVD soon. They have a pretty good list of titles that I would love to own on HD DVD. If/when I ever get a BD player I rather not buy the "compromised" versions.

You're that big of a Young Guns fan, huh? :)

Zodo 07-24-06 06:44 PM

I really witch WB would announce SOMETHING for V for Vendetta. If they don't announce something by next Tuesday, I may have to go ahead and get the special edition packaging of it at Best Buy.

Come to think of it...maybe that's why they haven't announced anything yet. Just b/c BB and Target are having special promotions for the regular DVD version.

Mr. Cinema 07-25-06 12:38 PM

No date listed, but here's the generic listing for "The Matrix Trilogy" on amazon. It's been added to their top sellers list for HD DVD.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...v=glance&n=130

I did a search for just the matrix, and it's got a listing by itself. Sounds like this possible 3-pack will mirror the bigger set released on dvd.

From the Blu-Bits:

Also, just FYI, the studio's previously announced HD-DVD release of The Interpreter, which had been set for 8/22, has been delayed indefinitely.

WTF is up with WB??

Mr. Cinema 07-26-06 08:39 AM

Maybe they're adding HD features to GNGL.

Not announcing their releases more than a few days in advance is annoying, but not actually releasing anything is maddening. They were initially boasting how their release slate would include, what, two titles a week? And throughout the entire month of July, they churned out just three discs -- fewer movies in a month than Paramount released on one day.

I'm curious if they're putting all of their emphasis on Blu-ray in the short term and ignoring HD DVD in the meantime.

That would be a pretty shitty thing to do considering they haven't done dick since their big announcement about partnering with Universal and Paramount, etc.

Maybe it won't be a hybrid any more. ;)

RockStrongo 07-26-06 08:54 AM

Im thinking we will see alot more announcements from them in august for fall. I really think they are looking at Q4 now and just trashing Q3....and it very well might be because of BD. I bet alot of what we see in Q4 will be hd-dvd and bd releases at the same time.

What is up with Amazon? I preorder this from Amazon last night and it was listed as HD DVD. I just checked now and Amazon has changed it to Blu Ray.

Eric D. 07-26-06 08:39 PM

Slither art is up. I must have missed it, but I don't remember this one being a combo. Oh well, I'm still getting it.

Weird. Well, I didn't order GN&GL, but I did notice another weird thing... my We Were Soldiers pre-release price dropped to 13.95. It still said HD-DVD in the item description, but it also said "This item is Out of Stock", WTF? Sounded like a SD to me, so I just cancelled it, better safe than sorry later.

What my pic? I can see it on the page just fine. Here is a direct link to the pic then. It's near the bottom of the page.

'Cause it's cached. DVD Active doesn't allow remote linking of their images, so everyone else gets an error graphic.

I'm a little disappointed just because the theatrical poster is one of my all-time favorites.
