Despite the "on-and-off" release schedule that Optimum Home Entertainment (UK) has decided that Brotherhood of the Wolf HD DVD (UK release) will take, it seems that Optimum has now provided a new release date of May 28 for Brotherhood of the Wolf HD DVD.

Here's hoping that there will not be any further delays... since the French HD DVD release by Studio Canal will be out at retail in France on May 21.

If it indeed includes the (superior IMO) extended cut, I'm all over this.

Does any company import Blu-Ray discs yet? I'd love to get my hands on that Ghost in the Shell disc. $60-$90 is a little steep for it.

anyone using a 360 add-on player importing Underworld Evolution (HD)?

I want to make sure you can remove the spanish subs before I go ahead and order it.

There was a discussion on this over at AVS that some people were having some trouble doing this, but I am unsure if they jsut didnt do it manually from the menu (the discussion was about pushing the subtitle button and it not working) if it would work.....

Don't know of any offhand but I'm pretty sure it would still be around the same price. Anime in Japan is expensive, there's really no way around it.

Watched it last night on my A1. If you go to the Xploited page for Underworld Evolution, it has a procedure to get rid of the Spanish subs (taken from AVS). Did it last night with no problem and only took a couple of seconds. Excellent disc btw.

So Terminator 2 just came out on HD DVD from Studio Canal... Can anyone confirm that this is region free and able to be played on my friends HD DVD player in the US? (I'm new to HD and don't know much about it)

Josh can, although the theatrical cut has forced subtitles, if that's important to you. The cut of the movie on disc two does not.

All current HD DVD players are not restricted by region.

Yes, the French Terminator 2 HD-DVD is viewable on US HD-DVD players. As Adam stated, subtitles are forced on the theatrical cut/disc, but you can use the C & D buttons on the Toshiba remote to move them fully into the lower black bar and reduce the font size. The directors' cut disc has optional subtitles.

Cool. Directors cut in HD DVD, region free, with no subtitles and in English, shit I am sold. Anybody cop this yet? Whats the best place to get it at for the best price? This is one movie I wouldn't mind jumping through hoops on to get in HD DVD.

Xploited Cinema is the best place to order if you're in the US. Price and shipping costs are pretty reasonable for a French import, and the site's service is excellent.

yes, thanks! i want to order some of these.

has anyone picked up:
equilibrium
http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/eq...e-p-10771.html
or the prestige
http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/pr...e-p-11919.html

i ask because the description there says that the subtitles (japanese for equilibrium, european languages for the prestige) are optional, unlike the terminator 2 theatrical cut. is that true?

if so, what if anything should i be wary of? are the menus in english? (navigating the menus is the biggest problem i have with my import dvds).

thanks in advance!
dan

I ordered the Prestige HD disc last night from Xploited, will let you know (unless someone else beats me to it).

I own both movies dan and I can confirm that subtitles are optional on both. It's a little more difficult to turn them off on Equilibrium since the menus are in Japanese but the easiest way is to just hit the subtitle button on the remote and toggle left or right. The Prestige's menu system is like that of every other Warner Bros. HD DVD.

Just watched the Prestige last night and what a terrific movie. The video was top notch but the audio seemed a little low. Now I'm curious to listen to the PCM track on the BD but I have no way of doing that.

Those prices are really steep. Outside of a boxset/TV show, I still think that $15 is my magic number when buying HDDVDs.

Does this mean HD DVD might pull through on this whole format war?
