Well... I believe Miami Vice is not a combo (That's a plus for me)

An American Haunting (HD-DVD) (The release date is delayed, so who knows when it will ship)

Downfall (HD-DVD)
Perfume: The Story of a Murderer (HD-DVD)
Superman Returns (HD-DVD) (Non-Combo/ No Eng True HD)
The Holiday
Tokyo Drift (Non Combo)
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (Non Combo)

Yep that's part of the upcoming scientific comparisons, tests, debates, etc I was referring to.

Is that not a reasonable consideration? I mean if people are going to make the decision to buy an import version because it's not a combo disc whereas the US version is (see above), wouldn't it plausibly make a difference to some people that they're getting special features which they otherwise wouldn't?

Count me in for picking non combo disks from away over combo's from here. I hate combo's with a passion.

I know there are a couple of sites around that list HD DVD imports from around the world (including one mentioned earlier in this thread), but is there a definitive one that is actually regularly updated? I am definitely interested in getting some HDs that are not available here, but I'd like to find a good site that has all HDs listed so I can make a more informed choice.

What I meant.... is you'll have users getting down to the nitty gritty as to which version has the better special features....and ultimately superior.

In the end, I'm sure there will be pros/cons to owning either version.

I read somewhere that there are no English subs on that one, is that right to the best of your knowledge?

Fair enough. I'm honestly not trying to split hairs or be "that guy who insists that his CODEC is the best" or something. I know there are folks who would be quick to say that for them the special features don't matter. For a lot of people, though, they really do.

One version has special features, one version doesn't. Whether that makes any difference or not is completely up to you and your wallet.

The European releases of Miami Vice contain the theatrical cut, I believe, whereas the US release has only the Director's Cut in HD and the theatrical cut in SD on the flip side.

I like the Theatrical version better, but the UK version only has two features "Miami and beyond - Shooting on location and Miami Vice undercover."

Anybody got the UK Miami Vice HD-DVD? If so, how does it look compared to the US release?

I couldn't see any differences between the two, the only difference is the lack of special features on the UK version.

What a stupid decision that was not including both cuts of the film on the HD-DVD side. I hate these dual cut releases period because we know Uni will release the theatrical HD cut at some point.

The 15 HD DVD titles announced earlier by Studio Canal is NOW confirmed to due at retail on May 21 instead of March 26 or March 5. The disc specs of some titles have been updated to reflect the latest information. For instance, Terminator II HD DVD will be a 2-disc HD DVD set.

The delay is possibly due to the need to press the discs with the latest/updated AACS layer for all 15 HD DVD titles released by Studio Canal. Studio Canal has indicated that the discs with the updated AACS layer will not affect playback on standalone HD DVD players such as Toshiba HD DVD players and Microsoft Xbox360 HD DVD add-on. Software HD DVD players bundled with HD DVD PC drives may need software updates/upgrades to playback those discs.
