Sorry, Sony owns the worldwide rights.

Wondering this too as well. I want Le Pacte Des Loups as my first import HD release, but I want to make sure the PQ is up to par. Also wondering if the HD release is the 152 minute directors cut.

Also did anyone pick up Muholland Dr.? Is it worth the upgrade from SD?

My copy is on it's way so I'll let you know when I receive it. From what I've read, both the UK and French discs are 152 minutes long and look amazing.

I've only read bad things about Mulholland Dr. but obviously your opinion could differ.

I've got Muholland Drive and it is awesome. I would recommend the upgrade if you liked the movie. Got mine from Amazon.fr

I received both Brotherhood of the Wolf and Mulholland Drive and will be writing reviews of them for the site, but I have some new Blu-rays to get through first.

PQ on Le Pacte is excellant. Grain structure is noticeable in many shots, but it also one of the most dimensional looking titles I've seen so far. As 3 dimensional as these things get, imo. The audio is even more impressive.

I will be honest and say that the way the subtitles are rendered on House Of Flying Daggers over on Bd is much slicker- but that said, the subs here on HD DVD are still a major improvment over sd sub streams

I just got T2 and The Prestige in today as well, but probably won't be able to do more than give them a cursory glance for a while.

Le Pacte...is 142 minutes and change not counting the end credits. I don't remember how long the R1 Universal dvd was. There is a rumour that Universal will have a domestic release out in October- but I don't know which version of the film it will be. The French release is said by many people to be the longer , directors cut- which was why I decided not to bother waiting.

What I can say so far is that the audio pitch sounds fine.

On the new Studio Canal discs, you can adjust the size and position of the subtitles using the C and D buttons on your HD DVD remote.

yeah that is truly an excellant feature. I don't have Bd now- are the subs fixed on them as far as size and location? Seeing how they can be moved entirely out of the picture area, I'm tempted to get 3 Days of The Condor, which is one of the few with forced subs.
The reason I liked the Bd subs so much was they were (iirc) a yellow font stroked with a black outline. That means they will show up and be readable under any circumstance- unlike the thin white fonts I see on LPDL. They also looked a hair smoother to me- but both font systems are leagues ahead of the interlaced jaggy sd sub streams.

Thanks to everyone for all the input on Le Pacte Des Loups. Looks like I'll be ordering it from Xploited as soon as I can. I never bought the SD release so it'll be nice not to have to double-dip.

Definitely looking forward to your HD-DVD reviews Josh Z

They're currently fixed in place, and almost always this means they appear half-in/half-out of a 2.35:1 picture, but Sony is reportedly working on incorporating a similar subtitle position adjustment into some future titles from their studio.

Seeing how they can be moved entirely out of the picture area, I'm tempted to get 3 Days of The Condor, which is one of the few with forced subs.
Only the latest batch of Studio Canal discs has this feature. I believe 3 Days of the Condor fits in that, but I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere that it has this feature.

Does anyone know if The Island is going to be released anytime soon on HD DVD...? I heard rumors of this coming out in the UK and France. I'm really interested in importing this title. Thanks

Do you know if the 360 add on supports this feature?

No clue, sorry. Does the remote for that unit not have C & D buttons?

A few more possible imports:

http://www.jeremymanesse.com/article-6483561.html

The French label SND will start releasing in HD DVD (and Blu-Ray) this fall.

Their first title will be "Ghost Rider" in September, followed by "Bridge to Terabithia" during Q4.

For 2008 they have announced "Mr. & Mrs. Smith", "Lord of War" and "Gangs of New York."

Yes, more will come, including Brotherhood of the Wolf and Mulholland Drive. But because I have to purchase them myself, the reviews take a backseat priority to those I'm officially assigned by the site.

Can someone give me more details about these? Are the extras in French, German, etc.? By ordering these, are you only getting the films in English?

How much is the average cost?

Looks like the Extended Edition of the first Underworld and Silent Hill are both coming to HD DVD in Germany Aug. 31.

I think they'll be released sometime in late June or early July but nothing firm yet.

I know that the 360 remote doesn't have C & D buttons but there is a posting on AVS from a Microsoft insider about a workaround. I just don't know where the exact post is but the 360 does support it.

Questions like these could be answered by reading a review.
