We should do the next one during the DDD sale (which might be going on during the 17th).

I'm already planning to go to my local Best Buy and just grab armfuls of HD DVDs, making a big show of how I'm buying the competing format, even though the PS3 is now out.

If Sony delays the PS3 again, there will be no launch. People will throw up their hands, buy a 360, a Wii, or both. Some people have been willing to wait one year for the PS3. No way they'll wait much longer than that.

If the PS3 is delayed again I'm going to call Toshiba and Nintendo and congratulate them on their newfound top spot in the marketplace.

With all the money/egos tied to the launch, no way in hell it will be delayed!

Is there any kind of tally for the effort. I mean on the DDD sale someone keeps track, I am not a member of AVS, but did they come up with a total. I know I bought 4 on the 8 and one more on the 9.

I just got a chance to sit back and watch Sahara.
First of all, the picture is AMAZING. Unlike Sleepy Hollow and Manchurian Candidate, there was not a speck of dirt on the print. And there is an establishing shot of the rebel's city that made me sit up and actually say "Wow!" out loud. I've heard people saying Aeon Flux is reference quality, but I can hardly imagine it getting any better than this transfer.
Secondly, the movie itself was actually a lot of fun. It sidestepped a lot of the conventions of the action genre (like the male and female leads hating each other but then growing to love each other, or the sidekick being an inept bumbler who can't get anything right), and the whole thing really clicked for me.
Why am I posting about it in this thread? Because if it weren't for the coordinated buy, I never would have given this film a try. But I'm damn glad I did.

Sahara is probably my favorite 'fun' movie on HD-DVD right now and it looks spectacular. At $18-20 it's a great HD-DVD blind buy. It also makes for some amazing demo material. Unlike Aeon Flux, the movie is actually good.
