Quick update, I ordered Last Samurai, Friday Night Lights, and Blazing Saddles on HD-DVD from mjentertainment.net last week for $45 shipped. They all arrived yesterday in great shape, hoping that they get more in stock soon.

They have Friday Night Lights now. I also received CoR, Manchurian Candidate, and Run Down with no problems.

I got FMJ and Last Samurai last week -- the shrinkwrap was slightly torn, but otherwise the discs are legit. Thanks for the tip.

BTW, my buy.com order actually shipped! Amazon has to get on top of this problem ASAP.

And now Batman Begins shipped from buy.com. So they shipped 1-2 days after ordering.

Methinks amazon is dead to me.

I've been fortunate with Amazon orders. all have shipped in a reasonable amount of time. Tokyo Drift was a preorder that shipped on time. I ordered Seabiscuit yesterday and is supposed to ship today.

As long as Google keeps the $10 off deal alive, then I'll shop Buy.com

I somehow accidentally submitted the same order twice to Buy.com through the google link, and although I cancelled the 2nd order immediately through google, and a few minutes later, I cancelled it again when I received the Buy.com order number, the order still shipped out the same day.

Is it just me, or has Batman Begins disappeared from the Amazon website?

[Edit: No, check that. It is there but was no longer on the HD DVD list I had bookmarked. They must be reorganizing their site.]

I, too, am surprised at the difficulty Amazon is having with handling orders for HD DVD.

It's still there, but the price has ballooned to $24.99 and the availability is now "6 to 10 days."

Ditto. It is a shame that so many are having problems.

I'm wondering if Amazon's issues are specific to Warner Brothers and Paramount, since I've had absolutely no problems with the Universal titles I've ordered. Either way, it definitely is a problem that needs to be fixed. It's unacceptable from an e-tailer of their size, if you ask me.

I pre-ordered Batman the day that they began taking pre-orders. IMO, they should have had that thing shipped out on Monday. If they can't bother to ship the DVDs so I get them the same week the stuff comes out, I am not going to bother with shopping there.

Batman Begins was one of my orders and it arrived for me on Tuesday. I am sure you got your pre-order in before me.

From a personal perspective, this week shot this theory down for me.

My Warner titles (Batman, Charlie, Willy, Corpse) shipped promptly.
My Uni titles (Fast Times and AoD) haven't shipped yet and aren't even 'shipping soon' -- even though they are both 'in stock'.

I'd send them a strongly worded email on the subject, if you haven't done so already. I've done that twice and have gotten a $5 coupon and a free upgrade to next-day shipping. I just wish it were easier to get through to them, without getting some kind of canned response. Basically, I want to go to one of the people in charge and just ask, "Okay, seriously, what is the deal here? Do you realize how poorly this reflects on Amazon? When will it be fixed?" Because, honestly, with the 10% off, the lower prices, and the free 2-day shipping I get, it really is a sweet deal; it's just this shipping thing that seems to be getting worse, and it sucks. If local stores didn't have higher prices and charge sales tax, it wouldn't be such a rough position. But, I digress...

I'm sure it's been asked already (though not sure where), but do we know if HD DVD/BD titles will be included in the upcoming DDD 20% sale?

Yup. But they still won't be less than what Amazon and others charge.

...especially if DDD implements their "normal price hike" that goes with the sale.

Join WB's website and get a 20% off your total order coupon from thier online store whihc has all of thier standard titles for 19.99 and combo discs for 29.99. I got a copy of the lakehouse for 23.96 and Grand Prix for 15.96. There is no limit to how much you can buy, just that it be your first order throught them. You can even use it on Preorders as I got BBC Atlas of the Natural World: Western Hemisphere & Antarctica (DVD) for 16.00 off. Anyways 20% off isnt bad especially when used on thier 19.99 HD-DVD's.

I think shipping and tax kill the deal for me.

The shipping does totally kill it. $15.96 for T3 is a good deal but standard $5.95 for shipping. Dang.

O.C. Fry's ad has Aeon Flux HD-DVD for $14.99. I'm guessing other Fry's stores will have the same price.

Google Checkout Deal.

Damn!

Buy.com sent me the SD version of Grand Prix instead of the HD version.
