I think all of Fox's titles are $39.99 also. I'm wondering how much of that is related to manufacturing costs and how much is greed.

Well, if Kong is just the movie and extras, then I think its greed.

If its got hd extras, TrueHD soundtrack and more, then I would gladly pay it.

Im wondering if its gonna be a combo, but without the movie on the sd side. Who knows.

For those of you who missed out on the MI boxset deal at amazon, go check out the $10 google checkout thread....here is my post...

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=165

It also can work for other hd-dvd purchases. I purchased from cduniverse and bestprices. I had good experiences with both.

Sounds like you gave her a hard time when all she was trying to be was helpful.

It's also possible that that particular store had some returns from people who didn't know they weren't buying a standard DVD, and they wanted to stop it.

I just saw this Google Checkout deal! Thanks! Ended up purchasing some titles I didn't plan on getting right now, but the prices is right. Feels like the early days of DVD all over again.

Anyone found any preorder sites for the Studio Canal overseas releases?

I've emailed a few EU shops, and one of them mentioned that their pre-orders are normally available a month before the release date. So... if they're getting HD-DVD it should be ready to pre-order in a few weeks.

Still waiting for a response from HMV.co.uk

Well, this may be an anti-bargain, but Amazon's A9 discount has been dropped. I just pre-ordered Dune and The Mummy and no A9 discount.

They pulled Accepted from pre-order and still aren't offering the 10% on Werewolf. Amazon is becoming tiresome to deal with.

Those of you who want to buy Happy Gilmore may want to check out the Amazon Marketplace prices. Are they confusing it with the standard DVD?

No...not at all. She just wanted to make sure I had this 'special DVD player' and I said yes I did, I spent the $500 for it. The other part was just my own commentary I presented here, not something I said to her. Atleast she makes customers aware of what there buying while some may have no known what they were buying. I was in retail, I would often find people trying to buy Halo for their kids not realising they had a PS2. I would also say 'Halo for the XBOX, correct'?

Since Amazon has not given me the 10% off discount on Dune, American Werewolf in London, or The Mummy, I emailed them asking to add it. It will be interesting to see if their response is anything other than "Sorry, our bad. Here's your 10% off."

The 10% discount for all those 3 films works now.

Well, the email I got back was "We found no 10% off promotion for HD DVDs. Here is a $15 GC." I then tried to re-add the three titles, and it still did not give me 10% off any of them.

Really? Because I got it. The discount only appears during the checkout process. It does not show up on the film's main pages. But if you got $15 out of it, then that's even better.

It all depends on the customer service person you get....For Dune, I emailed them yesterday and they applied it for me.

I guess, in this case, the $15 was more than the 10% would have been, anyway.

I'd CALL Amazon. Tell them about the 10% discount not being applied properly. Then use the $15 GC once you find titles that it IS being applied to.

Just picked up Batman and Charlie at buy.com with the $10 coupon. About $16.50 for both shipped plus I'm going to have them price-matched. They also ship a helluva lot faster than amazon.
