It is my professional opinion (and yes, my profession has been web hosting server admin at Internet/Hosting Service Providers for a total of 17 years), that there is a high probability that this is being served by malicious code and not by the normal ads.
It would be fairly easy to prove this. IB could simply disable all the normal ads on the site for, say, a week. It should quickly become evident within a day or two whether the ad hijacks are still occurring. If they are, then it's clear that IB's conclusion that this is normal behavior from their ad partners is wrong, and that they have a deeper issue with the site. If the ad hijacks stop, then IB was right, and they then need to make some decisions about how they want to proceed with advertising on this site.

I also think they just don't see how frequently it's coming up, and don't think it's as bad as it is, since we're not even reporting every single instance. Out of sight, out of mind, right?If we could email someone at IB every single time it happened, that would get their attention, because I doubt bumping this thread every few days is accomplishing much in the way of persuasion.

Can someone please remind me the way that IB has expressed is the best way to bring up these sorts of concerns? If this isn't the channel IB wants, then what is it, please?

IB did disable ads for a small subset of folks here starting on 2/8. I haven't had any redirects since then, and I've been very heavily accessing DVD Talk on my phone since then. That isn't absolute proof (I've gone long stretches without redirects), but it does lead me to suspect that their guess about it being ad-related is on the money.

I haven't used the site on my phone in a few weeks because of the frustration. I'm still here on the PC, but I'm using the forum less than I was. One would think these ads have caused traffic to go down overall.

I did get this "warning" on another unrelated website using Google Chrome on my PC. When I use Internet Explorer, it doesn't show up.
When I use my phone to browse, I only get warnings saying that my phone has been infected and for some reason, it starts to vibrate consistently. I have to exit and reenter the website for it to go away.

I am getting that and another one about being infected with 13 viruses. Scare tactic to get me to buy some software to remove them. So ridiculous.

I got hit with that virus warning ad also. I also get hit at random times with another ad that says I won something when I visit "Other forum" and my phone starts to vibrate. It's annoying as hell.

I have noticed a decrease in amount of new posts... Which means I am on the site less which may account for less chance of getting taken hostage..

I've gotten no official communication from IB that the issue is resolved. I know they were looking at both angles (yelling at the ad engine vendor and looking at code on the server).
