El Scorcho you bastard!!!

Wow... that was quick work from the mods.

Th0r S1mpson 08-15-08 01:09 PM

El Scorcho you bastard!!!

Wow, it's apparently turned on for every post now.

Kittydreamer 08-15-08 01:12 PM

El Scorcho you bastard!!!

Hey, that's kinda cool. I wonder if they'll turn it on for other members?

fumanstan 08-15-08 01:18 PM

Nice. Other then the search I haven't noticed anything. Smiley drop down and stuff is all working for me.

The Cow 08-15-08 01:19 PM

El Scorcho you douche bag!!!

I like the variations option.

Bah, no useful features were added, such as multi-quoting or marking threads to which you have contributed.

We'll get new features eventually, and this was just the first step towards that. First get to the point where all existing features work with the new version and then start adding new features...

Venusian 08-15-08 01:48 PM

I haven't seen any ads.

Some of the new features were turned off while IB tries to fix the bugs.

Cardsfan111 08-15-08 01:52 PM

Now the number of posts you have shows up under your username/title/join date in your posts....that wasn't that way earlier, was it?

I kinda like that.

I kinda like that.

It used to be that way and then it was turned off a few years ago.

Gizmo 08-15-08 01:58 PM

Post count is back...makes me wonder where 8 years of my life went.

twikoff 08-15-08 02:00 PM

ha
post count is back
that will be gone soon enough, you can count on that

When I first came into the forum I noticed them. I had been logged out, and since I logged in I haven't seen them.

Kudos though for the upgrade. I'm telling you I stopped upgrading because almost everything we saw pointed to it being almost impossible. So the IB tech team must have really done some magic.

Now hopefully they will turn on all the features!

Thanks!

the initial rebuild of an index for a site this large could easily be multiple days..

just a guess..

I started the search index before I left for home at 5:30am PST. It's now 12:12pm PST and I'm back at my desk. The index is still building, almost on the 3 millionth post. That's why you're only getting old results, and why you might not be getting any results at all.

could just be me.. since i assume they used the same template

Images, background colors, and all of that are exactly the same. That's your subconscious telling you that you don't like the new site! :(

I have always liked that too, and it's one reason why we opened up the forum to moderator input a couple of days ago. They didn't ask that it gets removed, so it might be staying.

We believe we resolved most of the issues by now.

fumanstan 08-15-08 02:18 PM

Thanks for the update!

twikoff 08-15-08 02:23 PM

i figured it must have been in my head

and assumed the search was because of the reindex
i assume you dont have a pretty little status bar showing that its up to 22% complete? ;)

We had a problem with the style, so it was giving you the old version. That's why you didn't have the multi-quote and whatnot. They should be there now. As far as seeing the ads within messages, if you are logged in you shouldn't be seeing them.

No, but I do get to sit there and watch a number grow.... slowly.... it's on post #2,975,644 (out of something like 5 million). And that's been running for 6 hours!

Consider yourself lucky.

IB - ads in posts? Really?

= J

fumanstan 08-15-08 02:37 PM

I haven't seen any ads yet

Tarantino 08-15-08 02:42 PM

It's hit and miss. Hopefully they're working it OUT, and not IN.

= J

twikoff 08-15-08 02:54 PM

you can now see the history on threads you edited and even run a compare to see what all you edited

interesting.. seems like it would be typically useless.. but interesting

edit.. testing

was that spellcheck option always up there on the right? not that i normally would bother to spelchek my posts

The Edit King 08-15-08 03:52 PM

I really Likey-Likey all the NEW STUFF!

dave-o 08-15-08 04:00 PM

I'll be the sourpuss. Hopefully they wont. I use VBulletin as well for a personal site of mine, and as much as I really like VB, they sure did bloat things a bit lately. That networking stuff that someone else had mentioned basically gives people the ability to turn your forum into myspace. Worst Idea ever.

matta 08-15-08 04:17 PM

Hmm... I keep getting logged out, even when I check the "remember me" box.

awesome the new software hates you :D

;)

Numes 08-15-08 04:32 PM

Here's hoping they take the post count out too. I always liked the title change only (DVD Talk Special Edition, etc...), simple and elegant.

I have seen one post with an ad in the first message like Tarantino posted on the right, inside of the posters area.

Edit:
1. Oh my. This is definitely not an issue, this is awesome. When you post on quick reply, it doesn't reload the page, it just sticks the message right above the quick reply window. Sweet!

2. The Edit window defaults to embedded. That's cool. No issue.

<s>3. ISSUE: When you go to subscribe to a thread, it defaults to "no email notification" instead of "Instant notification by email." I'll be damned if I have to click an extra time to subscribe to a thread!</s> Note: This can be fixed in the User CP.

NoirFan 08-15-08 04:37 PM

What happened to the buttons for Bold, Italic, Underline, etc?

That is the default on most every board I have ever seen. Usually, people just want to see them in their control panel, and we'd rather fault on the error of sending too few emails than too many. You can set this up in your control panel settings so that when you reply it'll automatically be email reply. :)

I have a question: how do you insert text as a link? That is, a link that does not show the http address but rather underlined text than when clicked takes you to the target address?

Before you would click on "insert link" and were asked to include the text before specifying the address. Now it only asks for the http address.

Thanks.

The WYSIWYG editor is disabled for quick reply, but you should see it on a regular reply or a quote. If not, go to the 'User CP' and check your settings. Otherwise, you can do it why the oldschoolers do it:
