I was referring to the clutter in the bargains thread itself. It's not terrible or anything, but there's usually some discussion about the bargain in between other bargain posts.

I don't think that an HD Bargains subforum would be brimming with activity, but it could also help bring up smaller deals than usually listed in the bargains thread. I know I've missed a couple of pretty good deals by forgetting to check in on the thread periodically. I would prefer having the bargains separated and discussed individually and put up with an extra forum to visit. No big deal either way since there's obviously more opposition than I would have thought, but it's certainly my preference.

That's because for a developing format, there is a lot of talk about technology, sales figures, new companies getting involved, new players, etc., and the format war was of course a major topic. With DVD, at this point it's mostly just about what titles are coming out.

Plus, the possibility of BD encroaching on DVD is a sensitive issue for some here, and it's a good idea to separate it into its own forum for that reason. Just look at all the people who applauded Criterion and put down BD when they released their statement a while back about not wanting to get involved.

I use HighDefDigest, another IB site, for my Blu Ray deals. Their format for HD deals is set up much better than here.

I would frequent a Blu-ray bargain thread. I've actually been surprised how many good sales keep coming up.

I'd be up for a sub-forum as well. There may not be a ton of deals right now, but they WILL increase as we get towards the end of the year.

Wow, ok. So I'm apparently the only person who caught Jamer's tongue-in-cheek tone?

I agree a sub-forum would be useful, only because it presents things in an easier way than simply a one-and-only thread. For the time being, I'd suggest simply having it be within the main HD forum since I doubt combined they would get too much action.

I'd like a HD bargains forum. I'm not buying DVDs anymore, so having easier access to the HD bargains would be great.

Me too. I was thinking there was no way the wording of his post could be serious. Come on guys.

And count me in as another who would appreciate a HD Bargains subforum. I'd hate to miss a good deal so it would be nice having everything in one place. Sure there isn't much now, but it should grow as the BD adoption rate (hopefully) does.

There seems to be a bit more momentum for this idea than usual, so do we need to officially ask for an HD Bargains Subforum or does this thread suffice?

I'd rather have a BLUE-Ray bargains forum

Re: We need a Blu-Ray Bargains forum

Thought I would bump this, after a year BluRay is still going strong, and I, like many others, are getting to the point where we are upgrading our current collections and even stopped purchasing standard definition DVDs altogether. I think a sub forum for blu only deals is warranted now.

Re: We need a Blu-Ray Bargains forum

I think having a bargain forum for each format is a bit overkill ...especially for such a lazy bastard like myself that's become accustomed to just the one over the years. Besides, it would literally take me months to adjust to the change and I despise change.

Why not change the current forum name to DVD & BD Bargains?

I think it'd work better segmented out. That'd make it easier for people interested exclusively/predominately in one or the other, and it's a clean enough break that there really ought to not be any confusion about what would go where. If you exclude people who really don't care either way, I think the number of folks who don't want Blu-ray deals cluttering the DVD Bargains forum and people who don't want to sift through pages of DVD deals to find Blu-ray discounts would outnumber those who want them mixed together in one forum. (I would probably do it as a subforum, though.)

High Def Digest has a pretty hoppin' dedicated forum for Blu-ray deals, so I think there's enough traffic to sustain it.

I think it can be put in a sub-forum on either the Bargains or the HD forum.

Re: We need a Blu-Ray Bargains forum

I think it should be a subforum of HD, then there can be no arguement for confusion because they are completely seperate from the DVD Bargains then.

Classic bump. Gotta love the Pro-B throwing me under the bus because another poster made fun of him. Memories....

I say we should totally get a BD Bargain subforum. Link it both in the DVD Bargains and HD Talk area.

There is a HD Bargains thread pinned at the top of the HD forum. Is that not good enough?

One thread can become too cluttered for many deals and those can get lost between the posts. A simple sub-forum for HD bargains will do the trick. Actually, I suggest that one of the many tech-savvy members here can keep a thread similar to this one:

http://forum.price-adjustment.com/in...66&topic=2.105

It can reflect the daily/weekly price fluctuations/drops for Blu-rays at Amazon.com and maybe even for other sites.

Re: We need a Blu-Ray Bargains forum

My opinion hasn't changed in a year. I still like having one bargain forum to sift through so I can easily see the weekly ad threads and the occasional DVD that I still buy. That and even the current HD Bargain thread isn't exactly overflowing.

Re: We need a Blu-Ray Bargains forum

I think we should have a subforum for this. I am no longer buying any Dvd's and often do not want to search thru threads hoping to see or find a BD deal.
