I prefer the old tan and pink folders indicating if there had been a new post

Also - there's a somewhat neat feature where you point to a thread title and it displays the text of the first post, but it only works 1 out of 10 times. It's neat except that it doesn't work all the time and also because it obscures the other thread titles when it does work. * EDIT * Actually, it appears that does not work after more use I am using Safari on a Dual Processor G4. Latest software. If this info helps any. So far I greatly prefer the old system where I was logged in for about two years straight. I have logged four times today. |

<waiting for first adult reply> that's what I'm thinking. everything looks over scale some. Needs a lot less flair and a lot more simple text. |
I hate the sponsored links under the first message.
All the fonts/buttons seem too big. how about an option to switch back to the old version ? |
I wish the "Subscribe to this thread" option was back at the bottom. I hate having to go back up to the top of the page to subscribe.
I hope the old darker grey colors come back. I am getting snow blind. |
If you do advanced reply v. quick reply you get some nifty subscribe options... it's the best way to go.

It's just a little extra work, I guess. I'm so used to reading all the posts in the thread, then having the add subscription link conveniently under the last post. |
I agree with the color complaints...Its like looking at a really bright yellow neon shirt. Plus I think the whole "change" thing is hard for everyone. I definitly like the idea of a paid premium type of service though. Count me as someone who would sign up if/when the time comes.

I don't mind the new upgrade. However, I wish we get our post count back.

if you mean the titles that reflect your current post count.. those are coming |

i prefer the two tone style much more The only new thing I noticed that I like so far is that each post has a link to its id number. Makes it much easier to link to another post  |

 we now that wont ever come back did you happen to notice how many posts you lost with the upgrade? thanks to preacher.. i was able to tell i lost about 300 total.. not a big deal although makes me wonder which threads were sacrificed |
Love the upgrade not complaining about anything............well, maybe the fonts can be a little smaller but it's only a minor gripe.

the nice addition to quick reply is the option to manually turn off your signature.. so you dont have to include it in every post this is very nice for when you post many times in the same thread |
rival - suck up!!!
darkelf - shut up!!! :p |
Change is usually not a positive thing in the minds of many users. People get comfortable with how things are, and change upsets that comfort level. But most people get used to it, and usually end up liking it.
In general, I like the upgrade. Good job, Geoff. I don't like one of the new icons:  looks like a snowball. Totally ruins my sig now. :( And I've lost 2 posts today because I was somehow logged out of DVDTalk, despite never even leaving the thread, let alone the forum. Oh, and one suggestion. I'd like to see the quick reply box be a bit taller. It's only tall enough for about 6 lines. I liked it better when I could see much more of the post in one shot rather than having to scroll. Otherwise, looks great. |

I really don't like the colors in the main forums, not threads. I've only been visiting for a few minutes this time and already it hurrts the eyes. I find the contrast between the background and both link colors (new and old) very eye straining.
That's the only thing that I dislike, though it is a biggie given how bothersome it is to my eyes. |
I don't care for the overall look. I prefer the older look where every other post is a lighter or darker shade. Like White and Light Grey. It's just to darn bright on the eyes now.
It does not have the DVD TALK look and feel. |
I hate to threadcrap, but I just wanted to give a . I like the new layout so far.
|
I don't mean to be rude but this layout really sucks. Maybe I just need to get used to it. So far I hate how big everything is. I don't like the layout. I don't like the ads after the first posts. I don't like how there isn't a line between peoples sigs and their posts. Well I guess it will just take time.

Ya it's there now. I hadn't been on here since this morning. It wasn't working then. It's not too bad. |

The more of them I see the more I think the new smilies look like easter eggs. Too pastel and a lame 3d effect.
|
yea
i hate most of the new smilies terrible |
twikoff, what are you using? It's slow for me, though not much slower than normal.

I just dislike the overall look of it now. The previous look was much better. Also, the sponsor ad is just horrible.

I havent noticed any slowness at all although i cant remember the pages ever loading slow |
the sponsored links thing IN the threads has got to go. i've been to many boards, and i've never seen that before and i just think that really blows. i realize the need to advertise, but please don't do it in the middle of a thread.
|
I don't really have a problem with the sponsored box. It takes one second to scroll past that, and if it helps Geoff, I can live with it.

IMO, the Other Forum still isn't fun despite certain implementations to make it so. The community feel of the forum, the small town'ness that attracted me to it in 2001, has been broken down slowly and this last step of the CHANGE is a big one. It is now like a MAJOR city in here with advertising and assholes all over the place. It seems that a lot of threads now break out into some silly argument and each night I am seeing scantly clad women in ads (okay, so maybe that last one isn't such a big deal :p).
Anyway, just my two as a dude that's been here for awhile. As I said, things had been breaking down slowly but this change is like a wreaking ball to the forum and all these little pieces left reminding me how this place once ways, how it could be, are hidden by the new condo being built on the lot and all the crap that comes with it. Ebb and flow is the old line Geoff has used in the past but on viewing the site today I have to say there has been FAR TOO MUCH FLOW and the river it has created is polluted. One just needs to see the post difference in the WHAT WE LIKE and WHAT WE DON’T LIKE threads to know that. As for me... I don't like the new look or the new color scheme. The look of this place reminds me of a hospital. There are alot of things I could list off that I don't like, but I'll wait and see what this place looks likes after Geoff tweaks with it for a few weeks. Oh well... back to my raft. -k ### |
