The "V" looks like an "M" hiding behind the D's.
I hope you'll reconsider the logo contest, Geoff. You'll get the best work out of that.
Like Surf Monkey pointed out, it's plain text with a few nauseating effects added.
No offense to the creator. I just don't think it's fitting for this forum.

I liked the old logo....and I think this new logo is alright. I'm not very creative, so maybe that's why I don't think it's as hideous as others think.
All things take time to get used to. I'm sure that after time, people won't be as critical of it.

As it's been mentioned in this thread earlier we did have a thread dedicated to a new logo (this was some time back), and while it did produce some nice logos none really fit the needs of the site. (this was in relation to the T-shirts)

Now that I've had some time to think about. I think that this is a real bad move Geoff. If you ever intend to go "bigger' than what you are know (speaking of DVDTalk) I would not flash this thing around on a business card.
Like I mentioned (as did zOOmz and Surf Monkey) give us a crack at it, just don't accept the work of a buddy as something you want to stake the future of this site on...
... by the way, you might want to think about an entire site redesign, you know update the "house." Then maybe you could play with the big boys a little better. DVD Talk has looked the same for the last three years (not that it doesn't work) maybe its time for a facelift...
... my rant is done.

I saw Geoff tells the DVD FLLC to kiss his *** and we support his legal fees by buying 'ol school DVD Talk merchandise.
Or we can just add Chad's bunny to it.
[I also agree with Goldberg74's rant.]

I agree that it looks a bit cartoony and doesn't really fit the look-and-feel of the site. I will probably grow to ignore it, but it is a bit big and isn't very techy looking...
I can deal with it as a site logo, but I have to with Goldberg74, it's not something I would want on a business card. This site has grown so much, and the new logo, is, well, pretty cheesy.
My 2 pennies.
Carry on.
