It might be a good idea to point out the logo. I had no idea what you were talking about as the old one was still in my browser cache. Had to search for it.

Anyway, I hate it. Liked the old one much better.

Didn't even notice until I read this thread. Do you think I can sell my t-shirts on e-Bay as OOP now?

I'm not, really. But I have my moments. (Like the change that happened a few minutes ago... )

Been married to one for a coupla years, so I'm well versed in "blonde issues."

Have you thought about having a contest and vote on a new logo though (nothing against Todd's work and that should be one of the designs in the contest)? Just curious there seems to be a few graphic designers in the Other forum and a contest could be fun.
That's what I was thinking. Not to Knock on Todd, but the color shading just makes it look to cartoonish, and we already aren't taken too seriously as is...

I'd guess DVDPriceSearch.com is in danger of loosing their logo as well. Anyway, I second the idea for a contest. Nothing against the designer, but the new logo doesn't really give off the aura of a dvd site. I'm sure there's some way to incorporate the feel of what the site represents within the logo.

Geoff, I love this site and I think you do a great job...

That being said, I'm not sure I could hate the logo more. There really isn't a part I like. It's too blown up and the 'talk' part doesn't seem to go with it.

But hey, life goes on

I have done several logo designs for major corporations,
it is one of my specialties. I wish someone had said
something about the logo before. I realize that there is
no logo that would please everyone, but I probably
could have done something really cool. Oh well..

I don't love it, I don't hate it. I suppose I would be a lot more hopeful if this were a work-in-progress (or first draft) rather than what I assume is the final product.

I'm definitely not a graphic designer, although I do have some experience in that area. The first thing that jumped out at me is the shading within the letters. Very disruptive to the eye to go from light to dark (in the first "D"), then back to light to dark ("V"), then back to light to dark ("D"). Makes it seem like a random collection of letters than a cohesive statement. It just looks strange.

I also wouldn't mind seeing some sort of an image (DVD or keepcase or something) worked into the logo.

But, it's not terrible and I'm not complaining. Just my two pennies.

Right now, I can't stand it, but I suppose before long I'll learn to ignore it.

I think it looks like a logo from an early 1980's arcade game

I don't like it. The graphic isn't a logo; it's a text treatment and a garish one at that. I really liked the old logo because it was iconic and elegant. This new one looks amateurish. I’m a graphic designer so I’m inclined to be very critical of such things.

A logo should be easy to remember, easy to scale in size (so that it can be used in many different kinds of ways like business cards, web sites etc.) and should sum up what you're about. In other words, think about what your site IS and build based on that. Your logo should instantly put forward the base idea of your site/company. This one satisfies none of the above criteria.

You can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time

I appreciate your feedback. I am well aware the logo is going to take some getting used to

I will be updating cafe press stuff soon with the New Logo

The new logo is definately less subtle than the old one....

I'm sure it will grow on me, everything else does..
