Yes - It's a New Logo

The DVD FLLC faxed us this week basically telling us that the DVD Talk logo infringes their trademark for the DVD Logo. Even though we've been using the logo for just under 4 years and there's never been confusion between DVD Talk and the DVD Logo we've been forced to change.

So... We've launched our new logo.

It's new. So give it a little while to get used to it.

I'm sure we'll get a mix of love it and hate it. But sometimes things just need to change, and this is one of them.

a HEARTFELT thanks to Todd Siechen, who reviews for DVDTalk.com but who spends much of his time doing Computer Animation and design. See: http://www.realeyz.com/ (and if there are any studios out there looking for someone to work menu design Todd Rocks!!)

OK Well here's the thread for you to talk about our new logo .....

First Target. Now DVD FLLC.

Why don't they just leave us alone. We don't bother nobody.

Geoff,

Your 'subscription' pop-up still has this old logo on it: <img src=http://www.dvdtalk.com/dvd.gif>

I guess since it's new it looks kind of odd, we'll probably get used to it though. Have you thought about having a contest and vote on a new logo though (nothing against Todd's work and that should be one of the designs in the contest)? Just curious there seems to be a few graphic designers in the Other forum and a contest could be fun.

Man, I can't believe they are really upset about that. I really liked the old logo and never would have confused them. Oh well. Guess they have too much time on their hands...

Would it still be infringing if the old logo was slightly altered?

And then there’s the blonde vote: there's a new logo?

Wizdar, I didn't know you were a blonde!?!?

My honest opinion about the new logo is that I really don't
like it. It doesn't look professional to me. No offense to the
designer.

I like it. It doesn't really say DVD to me but it's eyecatching. Nice job.

And just for fun, here's the old new logo thread with lots of logo ideas. It was a fun game at the time, coming up with logos. Most are probably red x's by now. http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...highlight=logo

It warms my heart that I can now infringe on a trademark every time I wear one of my DVD Talk shirts.

Sorry Geoff, but the new logo doesn't do anything for me. I don't hate it, but I don't like it either. Its just blah... no offense Todd.

I teach graphic design for a university and it looks like something one of my first years would come up with.

I'm no Paul Rand, but I cudda done better.

I like most of the forum logo, but I don't like the talk part.

It is not the color but there is something about it.

Overall is looks really professional.
