I remember watching Deadstream but don't remember how I felt about it. I def need to get Letterbox this year.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 21: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)
I finally took the plunge with Letterboxd this year. At the suggestion from someone here I subscribed to the Pro tier which is absolutely necessary for the enjoyment of Letterboxd and I haven't looked back. I highly recommend it for anyone doing the Challenges here if you have any desire to try to watch movies you haven't seen before during them. The Pro tier is cheap for the annual subscription and gives you a ton of information at your fingertips. I stink at writing reviews but I am working at it and that, and the ratings, will give me something to look at when I want to watch a movie again. And it enables you to work on stuff like They Shoot Zombies Don't They easily which I am really enjoying. In short, join! You have nothing to lose but your time.

I'll add to the praise for Letterboxd. I joined to track my movie watches and work on all the They Shoot... lists, and it's become a necessary part of my movie-watching life. I'm happy to support them with my Pro membership, and you're right, it gives you so much more, including a year-end summary of your stats.

I put my rating on IMDB and always forget about Letterboxd. I suck at social media and tend to just stick to the same old shit though I really need to make an effort on Letterboxd. I just wish they listed TV stuff as well...unless that has changed, and they added it.
That is the one thing about IMDB is that it is all encompassing and you can find even the rarest movie, TV show, or documentary on it.
By the time I finally get all my shit on Letterboxd or Discogs like I want, I will be dead.

Yes, when I first joined letterboxd I imported from imdb. Works great and is easy as undeadcow said

Yeah, I forgot that I did that import once before and then forgot all about Letterboxd after the challenge. Maybe if I just pay for the premium, it will force me to remember to use it. I am cheap like that.

I said fuck it and went all in and joined their Paetron account. This will keep me on it and locked in.
Follow me if you like and I will follow back. https://boxd.it/1ye0x
Gonna do the import and get caught up and stay on top of it this time. $50 bucks will make me lean into it hard now. haha

Anyone else seen the Gremlins animatronic at Home Depot? I'm currently looking for a new job and trying to avoid unnecessary purchases, but I might not be able to resist buying one if it ever comes back in stock.

DVD/sBlu-Rays have vanished from brick and mortar retail; Best Buy stopped selling them last year, which was pretty much the death knell for physical media. My purchases these days are limited to Kino sales and Hamiltonbook, and the occasional WAC Blu from Amazon. I try to avoid buying digital movies because you never know when a license will expire. Nobody can delete my little plastic frisbees from my collection until they get disc rot.

EDIT: They're actually sold & shipped by GRUV, but it's still nice to see physical media back on the website.

One more reason to up to a paid tier on Letterboxd - promo code REDRUM20 brings Pro down to $15 and Paetron to $39. Literally just found the code on Reddit, and I can confirm it works. Maybe those who already have a higher tier can tack it on for the next year?

Subset Update
Everyone who's given picks so far has at least one spot occupying the list. It's totally up to you whether or not you want to give some more. It might increase your chances of getting more on the list, and it might not. We'll have the usual 1 - 4 subsets per person as usual. Possibly up to five. We currently have picks from 14 of 21 volunteers, and will probably get a couple or so more considering last year's was 24.
Also two more subsets have been added upping the total to 50. Tony Toddy and David Lynch have an extra apiece.
I have over half the list filled currently, and certain spots with larger lists are being kept open (Colors of the Dark has 2,048 titles, Evolution has 2,450, etc.) in the very likely event something needs rearranging.
But yeah, it's looking great so far. We're not too far off the usual schedule. The only difference is the discussion thread will probably go up before the subset list w/ physical media/streaming guide this year.
And don't forget to vote for the Crossover picks and the Shudder 10th Anniversary pick if you haven't.
I'll update this post if needed and the link will be in the wiki.

Need a few more of these...
Werewolves
Supernatural
Giallo
Soundtracks/Synth
Joe Bob
Social Commentary
1980s Video Companies
Text (Definitive)
Text (Mondo)
Text (Satan)
Text (Monster)
Jaws 50th
Mashup (Trauma Horror)
Mashup (Warner Home Video)
Passport
Tech
Slasher (spot is most likely already filled, just in case)
Made-for-TV (ditto)
Devil
Halloween (one spot still remaining)
And believe it or not, we could use some more picks from the 1980s.
