I’ve slowly been getting back into things towards the end of the month, trying to watch something most days. I just finished disc 1 of Beast King Golion. And have also watched some movies. I think next month, since I’m going to take a break from challenges, I might watch a little more animation, when I’m not watching other things.

My participation has been woefully minimal. I've only gotten as far as the first eight of 32 in that Art-House Animation collection. Next up is Plague Dogs and honestly, I just kinda don't want to watch it based on its premise:

It's not that I'm too squeamish for such things altogether so much as I'm just not in that state of mind right now. Somehow skipping it and jumping ahead feels like more of a cop-out than procrastinating. My wiring is weird. I haven't given up on any collections to date, even ones like 70s Horror and Australian New Wave, both of which included some rattling films.

Having watched Watership Down and knowing this one is in a similar style, I'd skip it too and not feel bad about it. It is not a cop out to skip something you know would be bad for your mental health. And...it's not like you have to skip it forever, just until you're in a better frame of mind.

I can't believe today is the last day of the challenge! Where did the month go? I hope everyone has a good last day and strong finish! I've managed to keep up my streak of at least one watch a day. I did miss one day, but otherwise I squeezed in at least one short each day this month.

I do have to figure out still what I'm watching today, but I'm pretty happy with what I did get to. I finished a (short) season of Centaurworld on Netflix. Saw several new movies, (Raya and the Last Dragon, Luca, Vivo,) several new to me movies (Gnomeo and Juliet, The Wild, Atlantis: Milo's Return), and a few rewatches (Porco Rosso, Hercules, Tinker Bell.) I was able to get several off my to watch list which is always satisfying being able to mark them as watched.

I'd have to save my favorite watch was probably Us Again a short from Pixar (at the least, Disney). It's about an old man who rediscovers his joy for life in the rain. Really good watch and it's just a few minutes long. If you have access to Disney+ or the Raya BR, give it a watch!

Currently watching the terrible Tom and Jerry “theatrical”/HBO Max movie. Unless I slip up, I’m going to complete a “perfect” challenge of 100% first-time watches!

I just finished The Lion King (2019). Love the original ten times more. This was very dark and lacking the moments of levity the original brings to the intense bits. I had thought I might not like this one and I was right. The graphics are impressive but really don't feel like this was a necessary remake.

I had a very good month this challenge. I finished the checklist with 91 views, 32 of them first time. Not bad since I pretty much count all cartoons as rewatches as I assume I watched them as a kid. Once again I got a ton of my watches from library dvd/blu-rays but I had a pleasant surprise when I ordered HBO Max and found that it was loaded with early cartoons. I pretty much put up my library dvd's of cartoon compilations and went to HBO Max for my cartoons. Of course, it may be different next year but considering the timeless nature of these cartoons I will be checking it out again next year. I also watched quite a few cartoons from Disney+, a definite source for enjoyable watches.

I want to thank LJG765 for a tremendous challenge again. You always do a great job hosting and I'm glad you do the Science Fiction/Animation challenges back to back. Now it's time to play around with the Art-House challenge while resting up for the Horror challenge. I hope everyone has a great day!

For this year's challenge I watched the '80s anime series Zillion which was a blind buy from a few years ago. Conventional plot with team fighting an alien invasion but the series looked great on Blu-ray. Other highlights were Disney film rewatches with commentary and the Dark Crystal series on Netflix. I rewatched the Evangelion rebuild films 1-3 only to have them recapped in the final film.

Like every challenge I wish I could have watched more but still was a lot of fun. Checklist completed with no duplicates and my list is complete. Thanks again LJG765!

That's because there was a nine year gap between Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (2012) and Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time (2021). After nine years I guess they thought the theatrical audience needed a recap.

My list is complete. Total of 371, did 451 last year, but I was taking it easy for the most part, this year. Fun Challenge as always, thanks for hosting LJG765!

Did you like Dark Crystal? I kind of forgot that it existed as I didn't have access to Netflix until just recently.

Wow! Great job! This is the first year (I think) that I haven't done the checklist myself. I like to use it to find new watches but this year I didn't have a ton of watch time, so that limited what I could watch. But even completing the checklist, I definitely doubled up at least a little!

I'll give people a few days to finish up and finalize their checklists and finalize the challenge! Hope everyone enjoyed!

Thank you for hosting this challenge LJG765. I kinda petered out at the end thanks to my baseball team being good this year (fingers crossed for my White Sox). I did watch everything I intended to watch but didn't get to some of the recommendations from the discussion thread.

I watched half of the series at friend's house while pet sitting since I do not have Netflix. It was pretty good and I thought the blend of puppetry and CGI worked well. Simon Pegg is the voice of The Chamberlain which made me think of his line in Hot Fuzz about always wanting to be a police officer "...Barring the summer of 1979 when I wanted to be Kermit the Frog."

I got kind of lazy and didn't make a list. BUT - I *did* watch Jonny Quest, The Jetsons, The Herculoids, Space Ghost, the Loony Tunes V2 & V3 BRs, half of Invincible, and a few movies. I intended to at least start watching my new(ish) BR copies of The Flintstones and Batman: TAS but didn't get in the right mood for them so they're still just sitting there staring me in the face, taunting me...

And I still watched more this year than I have in the past few Animation challenges.

I do usually take a break from films after the challenge! I usually get through some TV I DVR'd through the summer before getting into the Sept. challenge.

I fell short of all of my objectives, due in large part to my Reds actually staying in contention for a change. Of what little I got to, my favorite was Invention for Destruction, which was a live action film that relied heavily on what I found to be especially clever works of animation. It was delightful fun overall, and mesmerizing just to look at any given frame. Thanks for running it again, LJG765!
