I'll grab pre-2003 by this weekend, unless someone wants to beat me to it. I'll also grab the years that have imdb links, just in case those end up being incomplete.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

I have lots of Fango issues dating back to 1987 in storage. The boxes are labelled by year, so I think I'll do a check through them this weekend. As I recall, they do an issue of nominees and then follow it up several months later with the winners. The nominees issues have the real gold.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

Se7en spots still remain on the subset list.

Theme Voting is happening right now.

Also, I never gave an update for the four themes vying for the 'returning themes' status...
  • Already mentioned, but Drive-In Double Features is dead.
  • The Chronological Horror Years Faceoff easily made the cut.
  • 1980's Video Companies Spotlight: [INSERT COMPANY HERE] also made it. We'll have to decide on what company later.
  • The fate of The European Passport to Terror is still up in the air.

The current progress is on page 3.

I'm currently tabulating the votes, and will announce some new and old themes that are currently dominating soon.

I think featuring a region/continent should automatically be included each year, just that the specific nationality should rotate. Voting in favor.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

So while tabulating votes I realized I neglected to include a couple of theme suggestions:

Conspiracy/Political Horror
http://www.imdb.com/search/keyword?k...genres=Horror& (153 titles)
http://www.tasteofcinema.com/2014/15...tical-subtext/ (15 titles)

Comic Book/Graphic Novel Adaptations
http://bloody-disgusting.com/news/13...s-adaptations/ (10 titles, and searching for a better link)

Sorry about that; they're now on the suggestions list. I'm an absent-minded guy and sometimes you have to remind me more than once. Let me know if I skipped over anything else.

Don't forget you can vote more than once. You can still vote for these or whatever else.

Returning. So far.

For the moment it's just two, but these blew everything else out of the water:

Jawsploitation / Aquatic Horror
Frankenstein / Mad Doctor Films

Next is new...

Sweet. Does that mean we have all the years now?

And I'll add votes for those neglected categories: Conspiracy/Political Horror and Comic Book/Graphic Novel Adaptations

Eh, if I'm going to type everything out, links won't be much more work. I'm going to list out the category the movies won too.

That makes 25 subset volunteers with only 6 more needed.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 12: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

Here's the new themes that made the cut so far...

4-way tie for first place
HorrorEstate
Fangoria Chainsaw Awards
Babysitters / Nannies / Governesses
Extraterrestrial Horror

5-way tie for second place
Travel (Vacation) Horror Movies
Dark Shadows 50th Anniversary
Fanaticism (Religious) Horror
Seances
Stranger Things / Unconventional Movie Monsters

3-way tie for third place
It Was a Dark and Stormy Night...
Abandoned Places
Period Piece Horror

Again, voting is still ongoing, and there's still quite a few spots to fill. I'll also say there's currently quite a few more that are tied. If no more votes are cast, we'll probably have a few tiebreakers to settle ...with more voting.

I'm up to 1999 on the chainsaw awards. The imdb links are missing a lot of awards, so I'm just going to go through every year.

Before it comes up, are we going to allow non-horror films that won awards to count? Terminator 2 won a bunch of awards and there might be more.

Curses - have we done a theme on curses yet? Movies that feature curses OR that are said to be actually cursed (I suggest both should count for same theme)?

http://grabhouse.com/urbancocktail/h...tually-cursed/
http://www.ranker.com/list/scariest-...stopher-shultz
There might be better links/lists somewhere.

You haven't missed subset volunteering. Just sayin'.

No. The only reason I could think of adding anything else is if it has a hint of horror and could be used with a wildcard.

No, we haven't.

I plugged in "curse" in the IMDB title search and 422 titles popped up:
