You must defend your film from the haters and then bring it up over and over again in future challenges.

I live a couple minutes from one that I expected to close already. It was a family owned store that was on a busy street. Then the guy that owned/worked it decided to retire and gave it to his daughter that had recently graduated junior college with a business degree. She decided to then move it to a street that's a dead end.

When you're running a nearly dead type of business, it seems to me the last thing you want to do is put it in a location nobody is going to drive past.

I stop by but never to rent things. They sell all new blu-ray releases for $15, so I check them out for things that are released at higher prices. They don't restock it, so once it's gone, it's gone. Plus you get a bag of popcorn when you buy something.

Well, you could study the film and have ready doctorate-level rebuttals for any possible complaints about it.

I was speaking in general terms, but looking back you're probably referring to Let Sleeping Corpses Lie? Cool, I'll probably need YouTube for that one!

Thanks! I hope to avoid even the free trial unless absolutely necessary. With Netflix, Prime, HBO, and a couple thousand horror discs, I really should be making use of those if at all possible.

But then if I do need Shudder, I'll probably marathon it the entire week to get my "money's worth."

Same here, except for one old book/media store with a pretty huge selection. It's in the part of town I rarely go near, and their prices are high, so I usually forget it exists. I think it's a pretty old company, and has a few locations throughout Maryland. Not sure if they survive on book sales, and the rental income is just gravy, or if it's a key part of their business.

You made me research it (Killer Tongue) again. The below was my only comment on the film itself after viewing it in 2013. Luckily my memory stinks, and even after reading that thread again, no bells.

I still maintain that a better transfer would have really helped people get into this one.

A few suggestions:
1. Bloody Birthday (available to rent on Amazon, or free with Shudder Subscription)
2. Mumsy, Nanny, Sonny and Girly (aka Girly) (available to rent on Amazon)
3. The Omen (1976) (How have we not used this before?!) (Not available for streaming, but pretty cheap on DVD and BD)
No worries, I missed it the first time too. That means we're just shy of one pick until completion.

Apologies to everyone that had to participate this week in "The Repickening", BTW.

Killer Tongue was kind of funny. I didn't love it. But I'm glad I watched it. I do think the horrible quality worked against it. The DVD had a terrible smooshed picture. I had to use VLC to get a proper aspect ratio, and it was still 4:3.

Just a quick note of information. People Under the Stairs (suggested for the 1966/1991 theme) is available on Hoopla.

Yeah, I'm so sad that Hastings is going away. Unfortunately, it happened right after mine remodeled so we all thought the company was doing really well. It was one of those places I would often stop by on my way home to browse and decompress after work. My town still has a Family Video, but I don't go there very often since it's a bit inconvenient.

What is Hoopla? I just bought the Scream Factory BD of People Under the Stairs, so my fingers are crossed that becomes the pick.

Same here. That's the main reason I suggested it as one of my subset picks. I've been saving it for October.

I got the previous version for my birthday/Christmas/Father's Day/some holiday... right before the Scream Factory version was announced. Grrrr.

Too late to throw out a suggestion for the checklist? Based on a true story.

I'm not talking about when a movie says it but it's not true, like Fargo or Dude, Where's My Car? I mean things like The Girl Next Door, The Amityville Horror, and The Entity.

https://www.scoopwhoop.com/inotherne...n-true-stories

Never knew Child's Play was one.

I'm sorry, but I can't speak to the quality of the movies on Hoopla. I just thought I would throw it out there because I think we should help each other find streaming movies. If I had the Scream Factory BD of it I wouldn't think that Hoopla would compare.
