Great picker-upperer movie for St Pat's week and these times. |
Re: Last DVD you watched?
Finished Stephen King's Storm of the Century while we ate dinner earlier and this evening, followed it up with Stephen King's Desperation.
Didn't care for Desperation nearly as much as I did for Storm of the Century and/or Rose Red. |

March 20: Up the Down Staircase (1967)
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...e0248f908c.jpg Surprisingly lifeless adaptation of Bel Kaufman's mid-'60s bestseller is well-acted but fairly boring. March 20: Vernon, Florida (1982) https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...10f9f747ac.jpg Fascinating documentary allows the residents of a small town to talk about their lives. The guy who loves turkey hunting is my favorite. |

Had to spring for it when Half-Price Books had their coupon sale. Always intrigued by this. |

March 21: The Disappointments Room (2016)
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...9dff59c3fa.jpg Another of the "Is she crazy or is the house really haunted?"-type movies. I found it frustrating. |

If you ever want to understand their phenomena and impact and music - watch this! |
Re: Last DVD you watched?
'A Big Hand for the Little Lady' (1966).
Borrowed it from the library - wanted to see it again after so many years. Still as delightful as ever, though the ending no longer surprises. The movie has many strengths but greatest of them is the masterful performance of Jason Robards Jr. That guy was absolutely brilliant on the screen in the 60's. |
Re: Last DVD you watched?
Watched Clash of the Titans (2010) this evening, followed by an episode of Andromeda (S3): Point Of The Spear.

Re: Last DVD you watched?
March 25: A Late Quartet (2012)
https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...6b0cee216b.jpg Good, if often overly-melodramatic, tale of a long-standing classical quartet that faces an uncertain future when their oldest member (Christopher Walken) is diagnosed with a serious health issue. The acting, cinematography, and music are all top-notch. |

March 26: Tom Holland's Twisted Tales (2014)
https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...5faddd8e81.jpg Watching this godawful collection of shorts that were originally made for the Internet is a really lousy way to spend almost two-and-a-half hours. |
Re: Last DVD you watched?
^ I read some of the reviews of this on Amazon (the cover had me intrigued), if only the content would've matched the "Darkness and Dread" depicted on the cover, it might have had me. But no...
Watched Under the Mountain (2009, Sam Neill) this evening, followed by the last 2 episodes of Andromeda (S3): Day of Judgement, Day of Wrath and Shadows Cast By A Final Salute. |
Re: Last DVD you watched?
Big Deal on Madonna Street, Criterion disc.
A fun little romp, with lot's of character and charm, but not really repeatable. It's one of the Criterion discs I've found at a thrift store, so I'll flip it and thin my collection a bit. |

Alley Cat (1984)

March 27: The Ledge (2011)
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...a73b5069f2.jpg I found this philosophical debate disguised as a thriller to be a lot better than its Tomatometer score (14%) would indicate. I didn't love it, but it held my attention and was worth the $1 it cost me at Dollar Tree. |

March 28: Night Moves (2013)
https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/dvdtalk...53cc77ade1.jpg Interesting but slow-moving tale of an act of environmental terrorism and the fallout from it. |

So many great iconic scenes and lines. The opening gas station explosion as Clooney & Tarantino casually walk away is classic. |
