It's my favorite first-time watch of the year so far.

Tom Jones (1963). Only the first half of it. I had always heard that it was funny and bawdy. It won the best picture Oscar. It was referenced in The Sensuous Woman. But to us it was dull and dated, and we gave up on it after an hour.

The lighting was flat, there was a giant musical cue every time there was a joke, and Tom wasn't likeable.
