Since shadokitty is away, I thought I'd jump in here with a revised version of the checklist. The one that he posted is missing the links that I'm sure will be important to anyone who doesn't know offhand which movies made the Golden 100 of Russian Animation Movies list and such.

I'll probably work on the checklist but the Russian and Japanese categories will stop me from completing it *unless* there's at least 1 from each of those that's available for free streaming. I don't own any of the films in either of those categories.
I've determined I'm not making any unplanned DVD purchases this month as I went way overboard the past few months with both regular and challenge purchases. At least the challenge purchases have all been titles I've wanted to own for a while but I stumbled across several really good sales and over did it a bit.

No, never. I picked up a very cheap used copy of the 2 (actually 3) disk Collector's Edition from Hastings a couple of weeks back thinking I'd watch it with the grandkids before the SF/Fantasy challenge was over. When the viewing with them didn't come about I changed the plan to use it last night as a dual challenge title but that didn't happen either. I'll watch it sometime this month and try to get the kids to watch with me.

I'm sure I'm being slow but the idea of the Annie Awards-Winsor McCay winners checklist category is that we can watch anything by these winners, they didn't necessarily win with a specific show I assume. Am I assuming right?

I can't help with online viewing of the Japanese categories (though I did enjoy "The Borrowers" and "Ponyo") but for the Russian ones, try "Hedgehog in the Fog." I found it on Youtube. I've also watched "Winnie the Pooh and a Busy Day." It's quite different than the Disney version. Also available on Youtube.
Looks like the grandkids are "out" on this one. I asked my grandson about it when I got home from work. He said he'd seen it and didn't care for it. Since his sister tends to mimic him because he's older it looks like it'll be a solo viewing.

I enjoyed Wreck-It Ralph to start the challenge. In fact, I liked it better than I thought I would since I'm not the video game nut that many others are.

I've started my journey through Batman: The Animated Series and it's still a solid show. My only complaint is that the episodes are not in chronological order so in one episode Robin appears out of nowhere and in the next episode the police have no idea who Batman is, random I tell you. One disc down, a lot more to go.

I watched that with a friend, and we sat in silence for probably five minutes after the credits ran. It's one of those "too painful to watch twice" films. Off the top of my head, I can only come up with Persepolis (2007) and Madagascar, a Journey Dairy (2009), a short film. Hmmm... perhaps Wild Life (2011), which is not technically non-fiction but is based on true stories. That's all I can come up with.

I read it, and could hardly follow it - as I recall, it was in large part because I had considerable difficulty telling the main two characters apart. Haven't looked at it for a decade or more, though, so I don't know how accurate that memory is...

The next-to-last tape I watched for the Sci-Fi Challenge was one of the very first anime tapes I acquired (back in 1992):
It was part of a batch of preview tapes sent to me by someone at the now-defunct Central Park Media (U.S. Manga Corps).
The first tape I watched for this challenge was the very first legit anime tape I acquired, earlier in 1992, a gift from the head of Central Park Media after I met him at a business meeting:
At that point, the only other anime tapes I had in my collection were bootleg Miyazaki tapes purchased from a dealer at a comics show--LAPUTA: CASTLE IN THE SKY and MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO, neither of which was yet available legally in the U.S. (I've since upgraded to legit DVD editions of these two films, but the VHS copies in the pictures remain the only copies of those titles I have. And the only copies I'm ever likely to have.)

Watched the first of four discs of Star Trek: The Animated Series with Travis last night. I've never watched them before so I was a bit apprehensive to start. These are a lot better than season 3 and I'm enjoying them immensely. Top two: "Yesteryear" and "More Tribbles, More Troubles." I think by keeping the format of TOS but cutting the time they had, made a much tighter, watchable show for the most part. There wasn't enough time for rambling and slow pacing.
The animation is rough in parts, but I like how it gave them more options in aliens and ships. The voices are basically the same handful of people in multiple parts, but for the most part I didn't notice that, except for when Nichelle Nichols played 3 characters in the same scene.
Been working on the shorts part of the checklist. Quite a few are online free, so if you're worried about finding something, don't be. For those who don't use iCheckMovies, go to the comments section of the short that interests you and you will likely find the link to the video already there. Though, there's a chance the link will be broken, but enough work that you can easily get your checks.

"Yesteryear" is a wonderful episode and I'd put it as one of the top episodes in all of Trek. It's quite a heavy episode for a Saturday morning cartoon (I assume it aired on Saturday mornings) but that's actually a good thing. Anytime Tribbles are in an episode is a win.
Volume 1 of Batman: TAS has some wonderful episodes: "Appointment in Crime Alley," "Beware the Gray Ghost," and "Two-Face." Speaking of Harvey Dent, can some comic book readers answer a question for me: in the comics, how does Harvey Dent become Two-Face? The Animated Series has one scenario and the live action films have their own stories but I never looked into what the original source material said.
Season 2 of The Clone Wars arrived in the library today so I'll alternate between Batman and Star Wars for the next couple says. I really liked the first season when I watched it last month so here's hoping season two is equally as enjoyable.

I picked up the series a couple of years back because I'm wanted to "complete" my TOS collection *and* it was on sale - cheap. When I finally watched the series I was surprised to discover how good it is. Yes, I still think the animation is not all that good and there are times the animation or a odd voice takes me out a bit but overall it's much better than I remembered and gave it credit for back in '73. That's when I really took a look at the creators involved to find many of the writers were involved with the live action series. I gained a new respect for the show at that point and further found that many ideas from the series made their way into TNG (the holodeck being a significant one but one which I fell TNG relied on too much).

Nope, it's use your own system. If you want one show=one, you can, if you want to match up to previous years and have 4-30 min shows= a movie, you can. I think the main requirement is to have your list be numbered.

Since the general consensus seems to be for the easy counting method we will go with that. However, it is not required, so if you wish to count anoter way, feel free, as I will not be doing stats.
I usually have my list ordered with 4 - 30 minutes episodes, but for this one I went ahead and ordered them one at a time.

While I didn't see it as I had to start home at the campground where I was staying they have free movies every night and tonight's movie was a screening of Planes a week before it opened in the theaters.
