Two prizes are still unclaimed. If I don't hear from the winners by tomorrow, I will redraw, so don't give up hope yet if you didn't win a prize.

Re: 6th Annual Sci Fi/Fantasy Challenge
After pretty much sucking in the last few challenges, I set a personal high in this one!
What helped is I sank my teeth into three great TV series: rewatched almost all of Firefly, finished Game of Thrones season 2 and went back to rewatch part of season 1 (I watched another episode this week for no credit
), and continued my Buffy journey, which has been the focus of many of my challenges with varying results. Fortunately I took advantage of a long plane flight to watch the last five episodes of season 3, then at my destination watched the first eight of season 4. I also caught up with some big theatricals like Amazing Spider-Man, Iron Man 3, Despicable Me 2, and Wrath of the Titans.
Thanks for running the challenge, shadokitty, and thanks for the prizes, GoldenWheels.

Hey! I'm still counting on that Johnny Sokko set myself. (Too late for the Ultra Seven set.
) But I'll take the Power Rangers if Hyperweather comes through and Wally OPD doesn't.
(I delayed ordering Johnny Sokko and Ultra Seven when the prizes were announced.)

Interesting. I'll have to keep this in mind in November and May.

Is it too much to ask for someone to reply that they don't want a prize if they came as winner? Maybe I'd have better luck if I threw in the winning 465 million dollar Powerball ticket with the prizes.

In spite of my initial reservations I've really been enjoying S1 of Buck Rogers. So much so that I ordered S2. Now to decide if I'm going to sit on it a year... Hmmm... it's only 13 episodes so I should be able to work it in over the next couple of months.

I've had a couple of people reply to my PMs a few weeks later (long after the second and third drawings) and say they didn't see them until then. What's up with that? I get the guy who was on vacation for a few weeks without the internet, but how hard is it to check the discussion thread and check your PMs to see if you won something?

Re: 6th Annual Sci Fi/Fantasy Challenge
Well, I pretty much abandoned both the discussion thread and my list in favor of getting out and enjoying a few outdoor activities. This is the first time since my back surgery last year that I've been able to do anything even remotely physical, so a good portion of the month was spent rafting, hiking and just taking advantage of not being confined to only walking down a sidewalk.
That being said, I still somehow managed to squeak past my goal of 60 thanks to TV shows like Buck Rogers, the original Battlestar Galactica and a few films with Corman size running times.
Big thanks to shadokitty for hosting and GoldenWheels for the always amazing prize donations.

There was one Premium contest I flat-out didn't enter. My kids were too old for the selections, and I figured it'd be better to leave the prize to those would actually benefit from it. Everything else I've had at least modest interest in.

Yeah, I gave one prize back into the pool already, but probably just shouldn't enter occasionally. It's so hard to say no to 'free' or 'potentially free' though....

I guess I'm not ready to give up sci fi yet, as I'm still watching some sci fi.

Re: 6th Annual Sci Fi/Fantasy Challenge
Yep... I put aside the Animation challenge for a couple of days to finish that Buck Rogers S1 set I'd picked up. There were some simply *awful* episodes toward the end of that season. The "disco" one (aka "Space Rockers") was barely watchable. It epitomizes everything bad about basing a TV show on "modern" music. They even had the audacity to call the disco pablum crap they were playing "rock" not once but *several* times even putting "Rockers" in the title! To add insult to injury Buck mentions "The Beatles", Dr. Huer asks "Who?" to which Buck replies "Different band." Yeah, it was a good line but they used it in connection with the absolute crap "music" they were playing. If I *never* see that episode again it'll be too soon! I'd rank it close to, if not at,the bottom of the worst TV episodes I've seen in my life. It makes those really bad episodes in S3 of ST:TOS look like high art. Yes, it's worse than the ST:TOS "hippy" episode "The Way to Eden" - but just barely.

WallyOPD passed on the MMPR sets, so I redrew for them. The new winner for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 2 Volumes 1 and 2 is acubfaninmd. I will give until Saturday before I redraw.

I've been watching ST:TAS, as have many others, as well as Futurama because I never get tired of watching that.
But the crème de la crème of my August Sci-Fi watching has to have been seeing Serenity in the theater last night with a sold out crowd!
Also, on Thursday night, I have tickets for the Rifftrax: Live screening of Starship Troopers!
