The 4th Annual Academy Award Movie Challenge (2/7 - 3/7)
The 4th Annual Academy Award Movie Challenge

Hot off the heels of the Holiday Movie Challenge, comes The 4th Annual Academy Award Movie Challenge.
Official Rules
-ANY movie that has been NOMINATED or WON an Academy Award counts
-There is NO time limit, meaning it doesn't matter how long or short the item in question is, as long as it has been nominated or won an Academy Award
-You can watch a movie once then count it again if you watch the same film with a commentary
-There WILL BE a separate thread for LISTS ONLY created shortly before the challenge begins.
-You can count the actual Academy Awards Ceremony to be televised on Sunday March 7, 2010 as an entry if you'd like.
-A new feature added this year will be a "In Memoriam" Wild Card option. You can now select up to 10 films to watch featuring a celebrity that died during 2009. But only ONE movie per celebrity. For example: You can watch "Just Married" to honor Brittany Murphy but you cannot watch another Brittany Murphy movie unless another celebrity that died during 2009 is in it. If that makes sense... The celebrity has to have died in 2009.
-The challenge begins on Sunday February 7, 2010 at 12:00am CST and will end at 11:59pm on Sunday March 7, 2010
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, REMEMBER TO NUMBER YOUR LISTS

First time participant ready to give it a go!
Liked your typo, though I didn't think it was that bad.

I have been thinking about this challenge for awhile. Hopefully I'll have my TV room back in time for the festivities to begin.

I have two goals this time around... well 3 actually.
- Go through my unwatched movies and watch as many of those as possible that count... starting with my Blu-ray Discs.
- Watch as many Best Picture Winners as possible. There SO many that I have never seen.
- Watch as many movies as I can. This is obviously a given, but I felt I should include it.

Been going through my unwatched films this year, and putting aside the Oscar winners. I'm getting excited about watching a few of them, this 'month' will likely always be my most enjoyable film viewing month of the year.
My goal will be less specific than last year, I'll just aim for one per day here (my usual month).

I'm usually out of this one mostly because I'm burned out from the Horror Movie (October) and the Holiday Challenge (November/December) but I'm looking forward to this one now. Of course I just recently watched Forrest Gump and Gone with the Wind

This will be my first time doing this without an unwatched pile, so i can watch whatever I want that meets the rules.
Cool, I'll definitely check that out.
It does: Cinematic Collection Viewer Plugin

Question on the "In Memoriam" option using David Carradine as an example. I watch "Long Riders" as my Carradine memorial film, but I also watch "Bound for Glory" for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. Should both films count Carradine memorials? "Long Riders" would take a wild card, but "Bound for Glory" qualifies as a nominated film.

You'd only count the ones in the memoriam wildcard section if you had to, i.e. they had no Oscar nominations. And you only get one memoriam wildcard per actor.

I'm really looking forward to this. I'm going to make a point to watch all three Godfather movies. I'm almost ashamed to admit I've never seen them. Just wish I didn't have to wait a month to get started!!!

I'm doing the same thing when I really don't need to. I've probably got 200 unwatched DVD's/BD's that qualify and will be lucky to get through 50 during the challenge, but I tend to watch the junk and put off the good stuff.

While going through my collection to see what qualified I think I might have found the only movie to qualify in the Horror, Holiday AND Academy Award Challenge:
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Anyone think of any others?
