The 2nd Annual Academy Award Movie Challenge (1/24-2/24)
Okay since people have been talking about it here we go with The 2nd Annual Academy Award Movie Challenge
Rules are pretty basic, ANY movie that has been NOMINATED or WON an Academy Award counts.
You CAN watch a movie once and then again with a commentary.
Shorts count if nominated or a win.
Watching the Academy Awards ceremony (if it's aired) will also count.
So enjoy, the challenge begins Thursday January 24, 2008 at 12:00am and ends Sunday February 24, 2008.

must resist......
edit to add: Deleted my placeholder in the list thread. I may do this next year, but the insane amounts of time I put into the October and December challenges put me way behind in this thing we call life. So while I'm sure I'll watch a few qualifying movies, I will have to avoid these threads for a bit so that you don't suck me back in.

Oh man... I'll just be participating in this one casually.
I'll have to dig out the VCR, I have a tape from 1991 called "Oscar's Greatest Moments 1971 to 1991"
I just grabbed the tape. Funny, I haven't seen a VHS tape for years. They're so skinny (in width)!

Woohoo, can't wait!
Last year, I watched mine chronologically; this year, I have a different, but equally anal-retentive method planned.
I have a lot more to watch too!

Yes there will be a separate thread for the lists.
Also, I may not partake in this one this year. Not feeling it right now, and last year I fell out of spirits during it, so we'll see.

TM - Could you put links to last years challenge in your first post? I didn't participate last year, and I'm curious to look at the previous thread/lists

I'm sure I won't watch a ton of stuff, but I think I'll give it a try. And I'm sure the wife will be more apt to join me this time for more than a few viewings since it will include minimal horror movies.
Of course, I'll be using all of your lists as a guide. And when I go to watch a movie, it will most likely go lke this:
"Oh, I want to watch Footloose tonight. Was that nominated for anything? No? Dang. How about Letters From Iwo Jima? Best Sound Editing? Awesome, let's watch it."

Oh, well. Feel free to substitute Footloose with a non-Oscar-nominated movie in my previous scenerio.
and that link you included is SO going in my favorites.
