The 1st Annual Academy Award Movie Challenge (January 25, 2007 to February 25, 2007)
With the success of the Horror Movie Challenge and the Holiday Movie Challenge for the last 2 years I thought up this neat new idea for a challenge. With the upcoming Acadmey Awards coming soon (February 25th) we will start up a new challenge.
The object of this new challenge is just like the horror movie challenge. The goal is 100 movies in one month.
Here of the Official Rules:
-The movies can be films that won Academy Awards or were nominated and lost.
-It doesn't matter what the film was nominated for Best Picture or Best Art Direction it will count as long as it was nominated or won.
-A movie can be viewed once normally then with a commentary and you can count that twice.
-NEW RULE You can NO LONGER watch sequels to films that have won Best Picture. I chose to drop this as an allowment because it really doesn't make much sense. Also while going through my own movies I found tons of films that were nominated that I didn't even know about.
The thread is up to put your lists in here:

The challenge begins at 12:00 midnight on Thursday January 25, 2007. A new thread will be started to post the lists in again. Everyone is invited!

Count me in, I need to get caught up on some of the Academy nominated movies and performances from the last few years....this way I am motivated and in full swing to win this year's office pool
Question: Can we count Academy nominated 'performances' in the challenge? I have yet to watch Walk the Line for Reese Witherspoon's performance (in fact, I've not seen most from last year).

With college and two jobs I don't think I could watch 100 films in a month (though I can try,) but this may give me the proper motivation to finally catch up on the 20 or so Best Picture winners I have yet to watch.

I don't get why this one was moved, when the last two weren't. Oh well...
I came up with 75 DVDs that will qualify for this challenge; I put them in a separate DVDSpot filter, so that I'll know which ones I still need to watch... I doubt I'll be able to watch them all, but my goal is to at least get to 50.

I went through my collection and I have 87 movies that qualify. I am debating if I should watch movies I have already seen, or if I should watch movies that I normally would not watch. I guess I have a little time to think about it.

Shoot, I only watched 130 or so movies in all of 2006. I doubt I could watch 100 movies all in one month (even if I was inclined to, which I'm not, I have other things I like to do as well!). But have fun all, sounds like a daunting challenge!

I'll plan to draft up a list as well, this challenge should be exceedingly fun.
