Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
Looks like Paramount is following WB's lead and discontinuing most of their catalog titles.

Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
Appreciate this thread is a lot... found out a lot of my old titles are worth $$.
Back in my Columbia House days I picked up a few... Orlando The Harder They Fall Safe California Split The Charlie Chaplins The Fassbinder titles from Wellspring: Effi Briest Gods of the Plague Satan's Brew |
Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
I think most of the Fassbinger Wellspring discs are OOP now.

Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
There are a TON of Paramount titles that have disappeared and are going through the roof. Harold and Maude is one in particular.
Others i've noticed are stupidly expensive: Race with the Devil ($50+), The Entity ($80+), Play It Again Sam ($40+)... |
Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
If Play it again Sam is hard to find, why is it stupid that it is 40 dollars??
|
Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
Some Kind of Wonderful $14.00/$21.00
|
Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
The cover of Race With The Devil always makes me laugh. It looks like a TV movie of the week.

Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
90% of the recently discontinued Paramount titles are available via download (Harold & Maude is avail. on both Netflix and Amazon).
This is the future of home video (it certainly isn't BluRay, with only 18 titles scheduled for release next week). Hardcore collectors might pay 40-50 dollars for a rare copy of a great film (like maybe The Conformist in about 3-4 months from now) but for every title like that there are 100 you couldn't get a dollar for (much like the value of currently in-print discs). I miss the days where you could make a living selling dvds online. |
Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
I don't have any interest in download at this time. So I'll keep hunting down disks.

I miss the days where you could make a living selling dvds online. Though it is kinda depressing that these films are it. These DVDs that went OOP won't be returning and will be released via digital download. |
Re: Listing of Regular Edition DVDs that are out of print (OOP) and valuable
A lot of the studios have decided to release in multiple film sets. I think they will release in 4 or 5 films a unit. Also they license to lionsgate and others. I think they realize with dvd, they can't release 1 dvd sets as easily. Also Universal and Sony often reissue the oop titles. Sony brought back Man who loved women, Spanish prisoner, the front and others. So don't be so sure its just digital downloads in the future.
