Stella Dallas - official MGM release seems to be going for $30 or more for new or like new condition on Ebay and Amazon. Argh! I used to own this and wanted to pick it up again. Classic titles are going to turn up more and more like this as Blu takes over. Not as many classic titles will make the leap over to Blu as they did from VHS to DVD. Classic titles might make a good investment down the line but then again with burn on demand sevices going now some of these might eventually be available this way but not pressed just DVDR.

In that same vein, Paramount is letting some classic stuff slip out of print also. The prices aren't high yet, but the old Frank Capra flicks Broadway Bill - $32.97/$12.44 and Riding High - $69.99/$8.50 will be creeping up in value over the next year as supply starts drying up.

Nope, they're both out of print. It's going for $30 for the standard edition and $45 for the special edition. The only thing that's still in print is that crappy TV movie with C. Thomas Howell. People should be aware that any set that's currently in print that offers Poseidon Adventure is referring to the TV movie, not the original.

Another oldie I have, The Hindenburg is going for $30 as well.

Thanks. Updated.

It is so tempting to put "My Neighbor Totoro " on amazon, I just can't do it.

You might consider updating the "To Be or Not to Be" listing to indicate it's the Carole Lombard/Jack Benny version directed by Ernst Lubitsch. The Mel Brooks version, with the same name, is still in print.

I think someone mentioned before that it is going to be re-released next year.

GOTCHA! is listed at $31.59 used on Amazon to $37.32 new. However it's selling for $23 on eBay.

Hmmmm. I have all three of the Boy Meets World sets...

And my friend has the Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry, bought it for him in the DD sale a couple of years ago for less than $5.

Keep in mind that there's only a handful of copies of any OOP title available at any given time. I just checked and there are six new and six used copies of Gotcha on Amazon Marketplace, five on Half, and one on Ebay as a regular 7-day auction. Most other OOP titles are probably like that.

With such a small number of copies available, the prices can and do fluctuate greatly. If the lowest price for an available title is $20 and the next lowest is $40, once the lower priced title sells, the price can seem to double overnight. In a case like this, it's not all that important to keep up with the day-to-day price, rather to keep in mind that it's out of print if you're looking to buy or sell the title. How much you actually pay (or get) for it usually depends on how patient you are as either a buyer or a seller.

I sold my sealed copy of 1984 a while ago for $90 and bought the Region 2 version. It appears to be going as cheaply as 29.99 now though. Of course some people are asking $390 (dream on, Bubba) so it's hard to say what it's really worth.

Also, Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry was showing up at BigLots a few months ago for $3. I wish I had not opened mine or I'd have it up for sale too. I didn't realize it was OOP.

Another one of mine that I just found out was worth something. The Bushido Blade is going for $30 new, $25 used. It's a crappy samurai movie with a great cult cast (Sonny Chiba, Laura Gemser, Richard Boone, James Earl Jones, Toshiro Mifune) and a poor fullscreen transfer. But it's apparently worth something now.

Worth noting that that's the John Candy Delirious and not the Eddie Murphy special Delirious.

Interesting, I have this one too. I don't think it was an exclusive, just something where the first printing have both films.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the ones on amazon marketplace are the limited one, even though they don't mark it as such.
