Mine was The Simpsons: The Complete First Season. This was the 60th title I bought and I bought it about 2 years after I got my first DVD.
Wow. The next one was ST: TNG Season 1 which was almost a year later. Now, it seems like half of my DVD purchases or TV shows.

Three Company S2 and Good Times S1 and 2. All same day from a pawn shop for less than $10 each. Most stores has them for $25-30 retail at that point.

I'm not really sure I think it was The Simpsons Season One in 2001, but I could be wrong about that. I still have it though.

Twin Peaks: The Broadcast Pilot (At the time it was only released in Taiwan, and it was the first official release of the BROADCAST version of the pilot. All version before it (VHS, Laserdisc) were the European/closed-ending version.)

January 23rd, 1998 - Funny that I remember that date.
I bought the first released editions of Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The Crying Game, Donnie Brasco and Interview With A Vampire. The only one I still have is that Raging Bull (for some reason never replaced). This was the same day I bought my first player - a Sony player, but I forget the model. The player was a monster and although eventually a bit glitchy, worked for 8+ years.

My first TV show on DVD was The Simpsons: the Complete First Season. I got it for Christmas the year it came out.
