I'm not positive, but I think it was Get a Life, Vol.1.

The first one I bought that I still have is
The Powerpuff Girls: The Mane Event
The first season or series I got was
The Complete Monty Python's Flying Circus: Mega Set

2 of the first 20 DVDs I bought were TV shows or seasons/series.
13 of the most recent 20 DVDs I bought were TV shows or seasons/series.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was The Simpsons: The Complete First Season.

Pretty sure it was X-files season 1 and 2 together for $180 (plus tax) at Circuit City with a coupon found in the X-men DVD wayyyyy back in 2000.
Wow what a deal. I think you can get the complete series for that much now.
those were my first complete sets. I may have bought some Chris Rock stand up dvd's and the SNL 30th anniversary special before the X-files sets. I cant cant remember.

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

Wow, I honestly don't quite remember. I think it may have been Buffy Season 1. That, or Planet Of The Apes:The Complete TV Series. All I know is that it was likely around late 2001/early 2002, and that there still wasn't a whole lot of TV on DVD around yet. Back then, stores may have had a few shelves of TV on DVD, as opposed to the racks/aisles of it that are stocked these days.

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

I think my first TV-on-DVD purchase was season 1 of The X-Files, back in 2000 when it came out. I don't even want to think about how much I eventually paid for all nine seasons; I'm just glad prices have come down so much since then.

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

I bought Merlin (1998) with Sam Neil and Helena Bonham Carter as my first DVD ever. It was a TV mini and I was looking for something that would look cool on my new PC (my only DVD player at the time).

My next purchases were the Monty Python 2DVD packs for $40 a piece (this was before the megaset was released) and the first few seasons of The X-Files for $120 a piece. So I've been a huge fan of owning TV on DVD from the start.

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

My first was Clerks: Uncensored, the day it came out, 2/20/2001.

Then I bought Simpsons Season 1 in November of '01, and nothing else until Season 2 came out in August of '02.

Early on, I just didn't really see the point as the shows that were coming out were really expensive (X-Files) or were in ungodly sized collections (The Star Trek 40 volume set). I bought Clerks as it had 4 unaired episodes. Then when The Simpsons started coming out, they were priced in a more reasonable range.
