I believe it was the Incredible Hulk Ultimate Collection. Actually was slow to get into TV on DVD (just because of the price). I think I paid $50 bucks for the Hulk set on Ebay and felt good since the seller was a children's hospital if I remember correctly. It's still $60+ on Amazon, so I don't feel too bad.

My wife got me the Monty Python megaset on my birthday in 2001, about 3 weeks after we bought our first DVD player.
Clerks was the first one I bought for myself.

I looked it up for another discussion a few months back. X-Files had about a year head start and then Buffy, Friends and Star-Trek all hit within a few months of each other.

Thanks for the research on your part. My records dont go back that far.
While the Next Generation sets were the first star trek to come out as a season set, weren't the 2 episode discs of the original series out before that? Or am I remembering it wrong?

I think mine was the Simpsons S1 the day it came out, and then I got Sopranos S1 for the following Christmas.

I had to do a little research to see exactly which one was the oldest (and came out first)...
Looks like for me it was The Simpsons: Season 1, which came out on September 25, 2001 according to Amazon....

Simpsons Season One, followed by Family Guy Season One and Malcolm in the Middle Season One.

Clerks: The Animated Series (Uncensored) - I didn't know it was out until I went to Suncoast and saw it playing, then I went down to EB around the corner in the mall and bought it, as they had it for less than Suncoast.

I bought the first season of the X-Files right when it came out. I think I paid $129.99. I would eventually get the complete series for less than that.

And I also remember when $50 for a single season of the X-Files was a big topic on DVD bargains.
Anyway, my first TV show on DVD was probably a Twilight Zone disk (three episodes). The first seasons of a show that I picked up were both LOST Season 1 and Desperate Housewives, Season 1. Watched both then sold them on ebay for more than I paid.

I've been waiting to pick up the complete X-Files series for $100 or so, can this be done now?

I see amazon has it new for 275, or used for 180.

I'm fairly confident that my first TV on DVD purchase was X-Files - The Complete First Season on its original release date back in 2000.

Not that I know of. I bought 2 in a B1G1 sale, and held on to the second set until the Amazon price rebounded and sold it making my out of pocket around $100 (maybe less, I can't remember).
