Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

I believe it was the Incredible Hulk Ultimate Collection. Actually was slow to get into TV on DVD (just because of the price). I think I paid $50 bucks for the Hulk set on Ebay and felt good since the seller was a children's hospital if I remember correctly. It's still $60+ on Amazon, so I don't feel too bad.

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

My wife got me the Monty Python megaset on my birthday in 2001, about 3 weeks after we bought our first DVD player.

Clerks was the first one I bought for myself.

Not surprisingly, there are a lot of X-files out there, me included. I'm trying to remember what else was an early TV on dvd candidate. Weren't the Star Trek TOS 2 episode discs pretty early?
I looked it up for another discussion a few months back. X-Files had about a year head start and then Buffy, Friends and Star-Trek all hit within a few months of each other.

X-files seasons 1 & 2 sets from Canada for something like $65 a set way back when.

Found my older post:

X-files S1 - May 2000 (R1) / Nov 2000 (R2)
X-Files S2 - Nov 2000 (R1) / April 2001 (R2)
Buffy S1 - Nov 2000 (R2) / Jan 2002 (R1)

Star Trek: TNG and Friends were late to the party by comparison.
Star Trek: TNG - March 2002 (R1) / April 2002 (R2)
Friends: S1 - April 2002 (R1) / October 2004 (R2)

The Clerks Animated DVD was my first. I'm pretty sure The Simpsons Season 1 was the next one.

While the Next Generation sets were the first star trek to come out as a season set, weren't the 2 episode discs of the original series out before that? Or am I remembering it wrong?

seriously, didn't they charge around $150 for that, that's a pretty damn good deal.
I think mine was the Simpsons S1 the day it came out, and then I got Sopranos S1 for the following Christmas.

I'm not positive, but I think it was Get a Life, Vol.1.
Funny, but I don't think that others got this.

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

I had to do a little research to see exactly which one was the oldest (and came out first)...

Looks like for me it was The Simpsons: Season 1, which came out on September 25, 2001 according to Amazon....

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

Simpsons Season One, followed by Family Guy Season One and Malcolm in the Middle Season One.

It's been way too many since then: http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/erk428

Clerks: The Animated Series (Uncensored) - I didn't know it was out until I went to Suncoast and saw it playing, then I went down to EB around the corner in the mall and bought it, as they had it for less than Suncoast.

The Simpsons: Season One I think. Either that or season one of Titus.

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

I bought the first season of the X-Files right when it came out. I think I paid $129.99. I would eventually get the complete series for less than that.

I've been waiting to pick up the complete X-Files series for $100 or so, can this be done now?

And I also remember when $50 for a single season of the X-Files was a big topic on DVD bargains.

Anyway, my first TV show on DVD was probably a Twilight Zone disk (three episodes). The first seasons of a show that I picked up were both LOST Season 1 and Desperate Housewives, Season 1. Watched both then sold them on ebay for more than I paid.

You mean the complete series set, or the individual season sets? The individual season sets have been around $10 each in the past. Not sure about the complete series set.
I see amazon has it new for 275, or used for 180.

Re: What was the first TV DVD you bought?

I'm fairly confident that my first TV on DVD purchase was X-Files - The Complete First Season on its original release date back in 2000.

Not that I know of. I bought 2 in a B1G1 sale, and held on to the second set until the Amazon price rebounded and sold it making my out of pocket around $100 (maybe less, I can't remember).
