I noted that in my review. The colors don't seem as bright as I remember them being, but nothing about the transfer leads to believe the source has deteriorated.

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

There's a good chance that the X-Men crossover episodes of Spider-Man:TAS could be used to pad out the episode numbers. Those two episodes were recently released as a stand-alone in Canada. So for those who want them, they're at least available. Plus 'Pryde of the X-Men' as a bonus on the final volume. I know Disney has control of the Spidey toon, but not sure about Pryde of the X-Men.

Ep #17 - "The Mutant Agenda"

Spider-Man's progressing neogenic mutation is making him ill and he seeks the aid of Professor Charles Xavier. In doing so he meets the X-Men but is disappointed to learn that Xavier does not 'cure' mutancy, only helps those born that way to accept and control their abilities. Later, Beast tells Spider-Man to go to Dr. Herbert Landon, who is working on a cure for mutants. When Spider-Man leaves, Landon's men kidnap Beast. Later Wolverine attacks Spider-Man, thinking he had something to do with Beast's disappearance. The episode ends with Spider-Man and Wolverine fighting. Part 1 of 2.

Ep #18 - "Mutants' Revenge"

Wolverine catches up with Spider-Man, who is hot on the trail of the missing Hank McCoy. Later Hobgoblin steals the mutant technology that Dr. Herbert Landon had prepared for the Kingpin. Spider-Man and Wolverine follow him and discover Beast's location as well as the plot to destroy all mutant-kind; the two team up and rescue Beast from becoming the first test subject of Landon's plot. When Landon accidentally falls victim to his own experiment he is changed into a giant monster that feeds on electrical energy; the X-Men and Spider-Man once again work together and defeat Landon and the Hobgoblin. Part 2 of 2.

There was also a 3-Parter based on Secret Wars. But the only X-Character was Storm.

Maybe I've got to re-watch (or watch them for the first time, don't recall whether I've seen them or not) those episodes. Don't know whether I was excited or disappointed to see them either.

I personally would rather see them delegated to Spider-Man's release. Or better yet, maybe even a stand alone release. From your description, it looks as if these episodes could be more "Spider-Man dominant."

The "3-Parter based on Secret Wars. But the only X-Character was Storm" certainly should be reserved for Spider-Man's release.

Not THAT would be really cool! If Disney holds the rights to it, I don't see any other way really to release it (I wouldn't think they'd release one 30-minute episode by itself).

As to the Spider-Man episodes, I agree they should definitely be on the Spider-Man releases, but it would be kind of nice for X-Men fans to have those episodes on the X-Men releases. Of course, this doesn't apply to me, because I would have all of the X-Men AND Spider-Man releases

It is well worth getting the slipcovers of these, normally I think they don't matter, but these are really nice. Picked them up this morning at Best Buy, they had tons of them, also they rang up $17.50 each which I didn't see advertised so that was a bonus. Really looking foward to watching them, I don't remember them too much of these when I was a kid, so I hope it holds up.

My local Best buy finally got another shipment, so I picked up the slipcovers from there. All's well in the world.

The video quality definitely looks flat, and it would have been nice to have some sort of work done on it. Oh well, at least they're out. Watched the first 4 episodes and I forgot how much I enjoy the series and the storylines.

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

Is the quality on the DVDs any better than that's on youtube or that one network channel that still shows them?

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

Managed to find the slipcovers in Canada. HMV seems to have them in limited quantities. The one I went to in Ottawa at the Rideau Centre had 2 left of volume 2 with the slipcovers, but no volume 1's.

They said HMV has more with slipcovers on order and will have them this coming week.

I also called BB/FS and they said they won't have any with slipcovers.

I keep reading the transfers are subpar with no restoration. I canceled my preorder. I'd like to see some screenshots.

They will never see a restoration. It took 10 years to get them on DVD - don't expect anything else from this show. They look pretty damn good for being 15+ years old.

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

People also need to remember that the animation of X-Men was never its strong point. What's on the DVD is about the best quality you're going to get, and if you expect a much better transfer and restoration then you might as well ask them to reanimated the show.

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

I watched the first two eps today, & the transfer really is not that bad, given how long these took to be released, it's silly to expect anything better.

I will say the animation is very weak, I was like 9 when this first aired, I remember it being like the greatest show ever. But I was pretty shocked after watching two eps how bad the animation is. The voice work as well, Gambit makes me cringe (always hated the character anyway), same with Wolverine's voice.

?

I found the slipcover versions in Ontario at BB for $20 each. They'll fit in with my other Marvel animated movies with the slips...

I heard the same animation complaint a little while ago in the Comic section, and maybe its just me but I think it's pretty good. I dig the style and art of the show. Of course, I actually really liked the voice work as it brought back great memories of how spot on I felt the voices were. I pretty much associate those voices now with all the characters.

Order the 2 for $30.98 online at Amazon and received them today. Volume 1 had no slipcover, but Volume 2 did.

There were taken off my PC's power DVD. Like others have said this will probably be the only release, but for research sake:

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

after buying them I can say the visual quality is ok. Wished it was cleaned up but it looks like when it came out...good or bad. Anyone find it weird that when the show was out they'd always do this "Last time on X-Men..." and it'd reference 5 episodes or more ago? The DVD does the same...were they originally released out of order or is that the way they just did it?

I think that was because the story lines were so connected, something would be referenced from many episodes back. I don't recall anything being out of order at the time.

Re: X-Men(animated) coming to DVD

All the episodes on the DVD are in the correct order, which, with one exception ( 8 8 The Unstoppable Juggernaut March 6, 1993 aired a couple episodes early), is the order they were broadcast as well.
