I'm not planning on getting it. I think it's great that this movie is finally getting a release. The only thing that disappoints me is that they should have just gone all out and given it a Blu-Ray release. :)

Not odd that TDB has made no mention of it, if there's no Blu-Ray then they won't talk about it. They are, without question, the single biggest BR pimps I have ever seen. It's almost as if they own stock......

I can honestly say that I've never seen this movie all the way through.

I'm looking forward to finally checking it out.

i was never one who thought TDB was a shill for BR or anything during the format war. However, i DO think that now they pretty much dont give a shit about standard DVD. If they cover/mention anything, it's treated as an afterthought. For the MANY of us who have not upgraded (and have no immediate plans to), it is annoying, and very disappointing, as TDB used to be THE place to go for dvd information.

I believe that the latest generation of keep cases with the locking tabs or "snaps" at the top and bottom is called a "snap case".

I love this movie. Lea Thompson in it was my first crush. I just hope Lucas doesn't fuck with it.

Same here! I figured if she got down with a duck, I might have a shot!

If there was ever an new released film to DVD that needed a Rifftrax, this would be it (I am still holding out hope for a Nick Fury one, but Howard will so work)

My bet is the Nick Fury movie isn't widely available enough to make it worthwhile for them, but I do hope Howard makes their list.

They did one for The Star Wars Holiday Special so I don't think widespread availabilty is really that important to them. I bet a Howard will be done after the DVD hits

FREAKIN' A! Can't wait to buy this!

I too used to go the bits almost exclusively for the dvd release news. Now the only page i look at is the upcoming cover art. I just wish there was a way to filter the page. They used to have a section that would highlight the big releases on any given week, and you wouldnt have to see all the rerelease stuff and stuff that was changing pricepoint etc.

Yeah, the digital bits really has become the digital shits recently, haven't they.

I'm actually surprised that this disc is going to be as loaded as it is, since the foreign releases have all been pretty much bare bones. I'll definitely pick this up.

Honestly not trying to threadcrap, but I had no idea there were this many Howard The Duck fans. I saw it in the theatre in 1986, and that was enough for me! :)

jon_fort42 12-06-08 01:52 PM

Definitely will pick this one up for the kids if anything, I saw it on cable a few months back and it definitely didn't age well, but still filled with lots of 80's nostalgia

Yeah, but they also provided a not-so-subtle hint of where people could download the special for free. Recently on their message boards they've been pretty vocal that recent blockbusters do a lot better for them than 80s flicks.

I'm sure someone will end up doing an iRiff (fan riff) of Howard the Duck.

What the hell is a rifftrax?

Im all over this release. Loved it as a kid! Than as I entered highschool I saw it as a stupid kid movie. So I gave the vhs copy to a buddy cause he needed a tape to record me a porn.... A couple of years later I got the net, than regretted that decision :)
