Fascinating, that's what I can say about it. Not in a good way, but in a sense of appreciating it as a failure, which was solely because of how commercial they attempted to make an non-commercial property. As in, it's not Battlefield Earth, but the concept as created would have worked better later on, say, as an Adult Swim show or what not.

I would say its failure was that it was live action. A duck suit is still a duck suit no matter what its cost or size. It should have been an animated feature. It may not have been a big hit but it would probably have been more satisfying.

Now my worry is that we will get some really aweful artwork. Could there be hope in getting the original poster artwork? Im gonna keep my fingers crossed.

Let's guess... I see a huge Tim Robbins head in the foreground with a crazy look on his face with Lea and Howard in the back gasping.

Then there will be the obligatory "funny title" across the bottom declaring it the "Quacktastic Non-Fowl Edition".

BullGooseLoony 12-03-08 09:50 AM

It's Howard the Duck...with features. Now, unless it's a shitty transfer, I'm already set.

John*D 12-03-08 10:18 AM

Nice, but I'll wait for a Blu-Duck.

For the most part, Universal doesn't seem to want to release new catalog titles on BD. They'd rather port the HD DVD titles.

Then again, if Street Fighter is coming, anything's possible.

Howard the Duck on BD...oh man that would be awesome. With the only two new catalog announcements from Universal being 8 Mile and Street Fighter it would certainly fit in with a "Suicide 3 Pack"

stingermck 12-03-08 10:29 AM

Ill take a cover with Lea Thompson bending over on the bed shot, with Tim and Howard with crazy looks.

This is a day 1 for me, I still have it on VHS, and a DVD rip I made myself.

Hey, I'm not the only one! I had to ask my mom what that thing was in his wallet, and I'm sure she was thoroughly embarrassed when she replied, "That's a contraceptive, dear." I still didn't get it. How much you want to bet they digitally replace the condom with a walkie-talkie?

E.T. - timeless classic for all generations.

Howard the Duck - cult classic for 80's children, masochists, and Jeffrey Jones completists.

Wish they'd replace that crap looking ducksuit with a CGI duck. Ug.

Of course they will. Why else do you suppose George Lucas is calling this a "Special Edition"? :)

It's coming out on my 30th birthday. Happy birthday to me!

MTRodaba2468 12-03-08 12:43 PM

Everyone.

And no one.

Drexl 12-03-08 02:06 PM

It's rumored that Paramount is releasing The African Queen next year.
