yet I personally thought the blu-ray edition of Ratatouile was one of the best discs of last year - regardless if it was only one disc, the amount of extras they managed to squeeze on, was pretty amazing. The standard dvd edition of both films were shafted in the extras department.

Ratatouille does indeed look amazing but I think the vibrant colors of Cars blows it out of the water.

IMO a good (better) script supercedes vibrant colors anyday.

This is freakin' awesome..can't wait to pick this up!!! The movie is so cute and is #4 on my list of favorite Pixar films after Toy Story, Toy Story 2, and Ratatouille.

A 3-Disc? Digital Copy? A tad unnecessary imo. I wasn't a huge fan of the movie, didn't hate it, didn't love it. I'd rather have a 3-disc of Cars or Ratatouille instead of this, but I may be in the minority.

I know. They're useless and a waste of money. And unfortunately it looks like we have a slew of 3-disc digital copies coming our way this fall.

I'm curious why Disney doesn't give the standard DVD users the option of getting the Special Edition without the Digital Copy.

At least with The Nightmare Before Christmas, they advertise it as a 2-Disc Special Edition, but include a 3rd disc for the Digital Copy.

It's simple. Cars really is only a 2-disc edition. The 3rd disc is just a digital copy. And the 2nd disc is only needed because they need room to fit the Lesie Iwerks documentary The Pixar Story. They could have put that on the first disc but it would have meant compromising what is likely to be some of the most stunning Bluray imagery yet seen. They also could have sold the Iwerks documentary separately but it probably would have barely sold any copies so it warranted inclusion on this set.

Game, set, match. You.

yet the STARZ showing included the Iwerks doc + a mini featurette that included Cars and Ratatouile - the disc seems to only mention the full length documentary.

Ahhhh, so that's why it's $27.99 on sale, it's "eco-friendly" so they can charge more. Kind of like organic foods.

Yeah the 3-disc packaging sucks. I already displayed photos of it in the "what's the latest DVD you bought"-thread two days ago.

I already printed a custom cover art to put in a spare 3 disc keepcase I have...

I put the two main discs in a amaray 2-disc keepcase. The third disc isn't anything I'm going to hang on to... eventually the digital copy will expire as well

Out of all movies to do that, this is the least surprising. I think it was pretty much a given.

i could care less about this packaging, it won't take away from the enjoyment of the great movie and the seemingly incredible extras!
