He can't write or direct to save his own life, but boy can G. Lucas market. Guess he needed something to push his net earnings to over $4 BILLION dollars. I almost barfed when I heard how much he's bilked the American public for over the years... I'd be willing to bet 4-6 won't be redone.

I'm with everyone else...I won't be buying this unless the OOT is significantly improved. I bought the 4 disc set in '04 and it has seen little viewing time. I loved some of the extras, and ESB isn't tweaked too bad. But the additions to Star Wars (ANH to some) and ROTJ are almost unwatchable for me at times. I did not buy the '06 versions...

I gave episodes 1-3 to my coworkers kid...I still can't believe I bought those awful films. I'm going to try and make sure my son doesn't know they exist when he's old enough to watch them

I'll continue to watch my soft Definitive Collection LD's (on DVD)...because they can still make me grin and feel like a kid again.

I'm not even that big of a Star Wars fan and I've still gotten suckered into rebuying these movies a bunch of times. I had the original on VHS, then LD. I have both the OT and the prequels on DVD. I would consider upgrading to Blu however these movies haven't been in the player in a year or two so I probably wouldn't bother.

I'll double dip when they release all 6 films together in the ulitmate set.

If this is a rehash set with just new boxart, this will make the second Lucas endeavor I am not biting at this year, and as diehard SW fan since '77, this is a new thing for me. I didn't waste my time with that Clone War cartoon last weekend and I am not dipping again for some DVD re-release, as maybe the backlash among OT fans is starting to become more mainstream, as I notice most of my friends feel the same way.

I have the first OT release and don't have the prequels. I'd probably buy all 6 on Blu-ray. Til then, this is just another release. No need to get worked up about it.

Just like everyone else, this is a definite pass for me. If the original unaltered trilogy was included in anamorphic widescreen I'd consider it, but probably still pass. I have the 2006 releases already. The only sure way Lucas can sucker me into buying this again is to release the original unaltered trilogy on Blu-Ray.

I have all 3 of the 2-disc Episode I-III sets, the special edition box set of IV-VI with the kick ass documentary. In addition, I also bought the 2-disc sets of the original versions of Episodes IV-VI that came out a few years ago.

I got enough Star Wars to last me for months.

Re-releasing these sets makes no fucking sense to me considering the previous box sets are still widely available.

I have to think that if it had been up to Fox, they would have start releasing Star Wars on DVD back in 1997 alongside the VHS and LD releases of the SE's. I also think we would have seen the extended versions with deleted scenes put back in, anamorphic versions of the original versions, and maybe even DTS audio on some of these releases. Fox is no slouch when it comes to double dipping themselves, but they at least put some effort into doing their's.




And, yeah, it'll have to have anamorphic versions of the unaltered originals for me to buy again.

Is the OT re-release the '04 box, or the '06 ORIGINAL films? Those are the only ones I want..

The more I think about, the less I "hate" Lucas and others for capitalistic, money-grubbing, multiple release shenanigans.

Make all the $ they want, it's our fault for buying anything we don't really want.

And George does more good with his 4 billion than we the movie buying public collectively do with that money.

Here is the rundown of OT DVD releases:

2004: Special Editions (3 disks) + Bonus Disk of Trailers, Documentaries, etc.

2005: Special Editions (3 disks) No Bonus Disk

2006: OOT Versions + Special Editions (6 disks) No Bonus Disk

2008: ??????

Just remember the 2006 OOT Disks are non-anamorphic versions taken from the 1993 Laserdisk and if you have an HDTV, they look like total shit.
