I wished they used the single disc artwork for the 2 disc special edition

2-Disc for me. During the final minutes of Comic-Con the Paramount booth was handing out Iron Man Limited Edition (numbered) slip cases. I'll post a picture tomorrow, but it's lenticular with the three different Iron Man Suits.

But with this new Marvel/Paramount merger, will this be a sign of no double-dips?

Damn, nice lenticular cover. Wished I'd known about it. The Paramount booth was always so busy.

They didn't star giving them away till everyone was filing out on Sunday. It was an afterthought on Paramount's part. they gave my friend three of the 5000 (they're numbered). He gave me one as we walked out.
Semi-related: I can't stand the Paramount booth. The line for the T-Shirts is too long and the quality of the silk screening is terrible. I know it's free, but that won't stop me from complaining!

i mean ok, nice to have such an extra, but do you watch movies or commentaries? ok, maybe i am simply more enthuiastic over having the dvd in my hands asap, but to miss out on owning it over a commentary is slightly beyond my understanding...

The commentary isn't all that important. But to save some costs and also avoid having to choose over the SD or the Blu-Ray (I haven't purchased a BD player yet), I figure if they're gonna double dip down the line, I may as well get that version. If there isn't a new version, then I'll just get the Blu-ray version later. If I ever do get the urge to see it, I can just get it mailed to me through Netflix or something. Not that big of a deal.
And what's two years anyway? I picked up Transformers when it came out last fall. Since then, I've seen it once and the sequel's being released in less than a year.

Also, the standard 2-disc cover looks pretty cool. From the images at DVD active, the slipcover has the artwork with the Iron Man suit. You take it off and Tony Stark is in the same pose underneath.

I saw this twice in the theater and I think for me its the most entertaining or enjoyable movie of the summer but of course The Dark Knight is a better movie overall. I will be getting the single disc since I just want the movie and I want to pay the least expensive price for it.
On a side note I saw the first ten minutes of it at my college but it was not projected and it was panned and scanned on a non-widescreen blow up display since it was a drive in movie and so I got to think that this had to be a DVD they were playing since it was not projected. If this was the panned and scanned or full screen version of the film on DVD I saw how the audio and video sounded like. I was quite far away from the screen but I could tell you the soundtrack sounded the same as what I remembered hearing in the theater so thats good (I saw the film with a DTS soundtrack at the theater) as for framing it was quite good for a panned and scanned version since there was little or none panning but again it looked about the same as in the theater of course with way better detail and I would say that if this was the DVD were looking at a really nice transfer when it is in widescreen because the panned and scanned version was still pretty good. On the side note the screen was really huge.

Wow, do I have a headache after reading that post!
Joe, welcome to the Forum, but remember that punctuation is your friend! Prepare to be beaten up for the longest run-on sentence ever.....
BTW, I'm in for the 2 disc set myself.

Looks like the Lenticular Cover will be similar to a "possible" Target Exclusive (Since Target is always a WARNER lenticular Advocate).

Nice Best Buy Cananda set. Just checked the BB Canada site and it doesn't ship to the US. Any DVDtalkers in Cananda willing to order and send to the US? I'll be happy to return the favor if there's anything you need!!!

When you look at the page at the bottom it does say Blu-ray and when you look at the features on the discs some have HD next to them.

The DVD has been submitted to the BBFC and according to thier site the total runtime for the second disc is 195 minutes and 8 seconds and the I Am Iron Man Documentry has a running time of 1 hour and 48 minutes. WOW that is a full second disc. I can't post the link but just go to the BBFC official site and search Iron Man. Oh I almost forgot they also said that the Deleted/Extended scenes was 26 minutes and 19 seconds.
