Seeing how they have handled subsequent sets of past superstars I'd guess the set will be 10% retreads from the first 3-discer, 30% filling the gap from the last set til now, and the other 60% picking from matches not picked for the first set as well as newly acquired footage. Since the first set they have acquired footage from the Florida territory, AWA, and WCCW. I don't recall him ever being in the AWA but I'm sure the Graham family had some old footage from Florida.
Going back to last week. I have given up hope on them including the full farewell on the WM set. I suspect they will have the aired part on the WM set and then put the whole thing on the Flair set. The thinking is that WM set is for the broad audience...including those who don't have keyfabe and shoot in their vocabulary. However as they have recently shown with the HHH set (by talking about the MSG shoot), they tend to give you more of a real world vibe so the UT/Vince stuff would be appropriate. Now the question is whether mark has a say in it or not. It would be a real douchebag move on his part to not allow it. Watched the farewell again this afternoon. Two big MIAs. Hogan wouldn't have added much. I think his ego is a bit too big for him to acknowledge that Flair has had more of a long term impact on wrestling (and is much more respected by his peers) than him. The second is Ole. For those like me who grew up in the 80s, the Horsemen were Ric, Arn, Tully, JJ, and Ole, NOT Windham. I know the discussion over his hatred of Vince came up when the Horsemen DVD came out, but really how big of a scumbag is this guy to not put it aside for one night and give Ric a proper Horsemen sendoff? Unless Vince was paying all those guys an appearance fee (something I'm sure Ole would be against accepting based on principle), what possible valid reason does the guy have for not showing up? |
Ole is an old bitter prick. He's bad mouthed Flair in recent years in interviews, so I doubt Flair would have wanted him there anyway. Also, Ole has recently developed multiple sclerosis, and may not want to make public appearances regardless.
With this new Flair set, I'd almost bet that they do a documentary on the first disc sort of like they did for the last HBK set. And this would be a good one since they have all the definitive Flair footage from last 25 years at their disposal. Hell, even after this one, they could release another 3 disc set with matches only. Flair's career yielded a goldmine of footage that WWE can market for years to come. |
Former Four Horsemen member rips Ric Flair, turned down WWE's offer to be involved in Monday's tribute Ole Anderson rejected an opportunity to take part in the Ric Flair tribute on Monday's Raw. "They were going to give me $1,500 to come down and tape me (for the Four Horseman video commentary) in my house," Anderson told Pat McNeill of PWTorch.com. regarding the Four Horsemen video. "I just turned down a deal too. In fact, this weekend I was supposed to go to Orlando. They wanted me to go to Orlando and I wouldn't go." Later in the interview, Anderson put down Flair's in-ring ability. "He ended up having the same match every night..." Anderson said. "He had a lot of potential to begin with, but he's never had anything different than the same damn match every night... The point is he still doesn't have any idea how to have a match work. So they gave him credit for the last match here in Orlando. Wonderful. I hope it is. It'll be the same as it always was. Tell the match the other night was different than any other match he's ever had. He always does the same damn dumb things." |

That's not a bad deal even with the brutal shipping cost. I only need 4 of those. If anyone buys that deal and does not need:
Best of Cage Best of Abyss Knockouts Best of AJ Vol. 2 Let me know! Thanks... |

From pwinsider.com:
WRESTLEMANIA XXIV DVD INFORMATION INCLUDING WHAT IS AND ISN'T ADVERTISED FOR THE SET by Mike Johnson @ 2008-04-09 17:28:33 The only planned extra on the Wrestlemania XXIV DVD set will be the 24 Man Battle Royal won by Kane to earn his ECW title shot at Chavo Guerrero during the PPV broadcast. The PPV itself will be split over 2 DVDs. The Ric Flair Farewell ceremony is not currently listed an extra for the set, but World Wrestling Entertainment does have a Flair DVD set scheduled for a 7/8 release, so one can hope it ends up in some form there. The third disc in the Wrestlemania XXIV DVD set will feature the complete 2008 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, edited, with the inductions running in this order: *JBL inducting the Briscos. *Pat Patterson inducting Mae Young. *Jim Ross inducting Gordon Solie. *Dusty Rhodes inducting Eddie Graham. *The Rock inducting Peter Maivia and Rocky Johnson (and one would assume Dwayne Johnson's awesome monolouge as well)] *John Cena congratulates the inductees (another great speech) *Triple H inducts Ric Flair. The Wrestlemania XXIV DVD set can be pre-ordered from our friends at www.highspots.com. All pre-orders will receive their choice of a Ric Flair autobiography or the Gordon Solie "Something Left Behind" collection of Solie's artwork and writing |
Meltzer said in his update today that Silvervision has posted the running time for the Hall of Fame and it's 4 1/2 hours...so not much if any will be edited hopefully. :)
