All over this one on release day. One of my favorites of 07!

islandclaws 12-27-07 11:57 AM

Awesome news. I wonder if any kind of extended cut is planned? I'd love to see more of this film considering it's one of the best King adaptations out there. 2-disc for me.

Mikael79 12-27-07 12:08 PM

The Mist is still playing at a local cheap theater, and I've really been wanting to go see this. The strange thing is that I seem to remember hearing a bunch of negative buzz about the film when it first came out, but now all that I can find is generally positive words. Maybe I was in a daze or something.

Regardless, I'll be getting the DVD for sure. Thanks for the news link!

Sabrett 12-27-07 12:19 PM

Missed this in the theater...I'll pick up the 2-discer..

starseed1981 12-27-07 12:20 PM

No HD announcement?

Adrenaline 12-27-07 12:20 PM

This was a great movie, can't wait for the 2 disc

Rammsteinfan 12-27-07 12:23 PM

Awesome. Definitely 2 disc buy for me.

Weinstein had better get off their asses and release something. This is a good title as any.

Willh51 12-27-07 01:12 PM

Great movie, had to leave the first time I tried to see it because people were being obnoxious, but this is one of my favorites of the year.

Zodiac_Speaking 12-27-07 02:37 PM

Wonder if they'll have an option to see it in black and white like Daramount said in a Rue Morgue issue?

Turn your tv's color down all the way. Ta Daaaaaaaaah!

nateman 12-27-07 03:29 PM

This movie has gotten pretty mixed reviews, but I'll still pick up the two-disc Collector's Edition on Match 18th. Stephen King's movie adaptations have been pretty hit or miss, thus far. Of course brilliant Stephen King adaptations like The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption make up for the mediocrities.

Any movie with the criminally underrated Andre Braugher is worth as least one look.

mikelowry 12-27-07 04:45 PM

I'm in for this! I'll pick this one up the first day.

visitor Q 12-27-07 06:22 PM

That release window keeps shrinking and shrinking. Surprised it wasn't available by Christmas. Some day maybe it will!

I too missed this in the theater and look forward to picking up the 2D set.

dman988 12-27-07 06:45 PM

This was an AMAZING film.
My third favorite of 07, behind The Assassination of Jesse James and There Will Be Blood.

2-disc without a doubt.

Well, The Mist is from the same director who did both of those movies.

Agreed. It has Andre Braugher, directed by Frank Databont and it's one of my favorite King stories. I'll be getting it for sure. I just hope they announce an HD version.

Zen Peckinpah 12-27-07 06:58 PM

A definite buy (HD/BD version, that is). Best King adaptation since Green Mile.

Spoiler:
I almost saw this AFTER No Country for Old Men, as in minutes later. I don't regret my decision after that ending!

EdTheRipper 12-27-07 07:12 PM

Can't wait to see this.

DeanoBKN 12-27-07 07:17 PM

I'll be sure to get the 2 disc. I missed this in the theater, but love King's work as well as Frank Databont.

Duder 12-27-07 09:39 PM

2-disc for me, absolutely.

chris_sc77 12-27-07 09:41 PM

This movie had great beginning and a great ending. will probably pick this up if the special features look good.

xfilekr 12-27-07 09:46 PM

Can"t Wait

Sparrow 12-27-07 11:33 PM

Frank Darabont has yet to disappoint me. This being the most creepy of ALL King novellas that I read as a teen, I am looking forward to what the director of Shawshank Redemption does with the novella that I just can't shake.

petroc 12-27-07 11:55 PM

It's a great movie, I really didn't expect much but loved it. I'll be picking it up.

GameOver 12-28-07 12:26 AM

I will only buy this when it comes out on HD DVD,Excellent movie!

Come on Weinstein...WAKE UP already! While your at it,make is a 2'fer HD DVD week with The Mist and Kill Bill:The whole Bloody Affair :)

Geofferson 12-28-07 08:20 AM

Must-buy for me as well...really enjoyed this.

Matthew Ackerly 01-23-08 08:03 AM

Features announced:

The Weinstein Company and Genius Entertainment have announced the DVD specs for THE MIST, which arrives in a two-disc Collector?s Edition and a single-disc release March 25. Other extras that will appear on both editions are:

? Audio commentary by writer/director Frank Darabont
? Eight deleted scenes with optional commentary
? A Conversation With Stephen King and Frank Darabont featurette

Exclusive to the Collector?s Edition are:
When Darkness Came: The Making of THE MIST featurette
Taming the Beast: Shooting Scene 35 featurette
Monsters Among Us: A Look at the Creature FX featurette
The Horror of It All: The Visual FX of THE MIST featurette
Drew Struzan: Appreciation of an Artist featurette

Retail price will be $32.95 for the Collector?s Edition and $29.95 for the single disc; cover art is coming soon. ?Michael Gingold

*sigh* No HD release = no sale. Just a Netflix rental. You're losing money on this, Weinstein...

Giles 01-23-08 11:44 AM

is it me or did the

Spoiler:
non-existent demise scene of Andre Braugher's character felt like a giant let down - I hope Darabont talks about this flaw I found with the movie

mdc3000 01-23-08 03:22 PM

I'll have to rent this one for sure... Loved the movie, but until Weinstein gets their HD act together, I'm not buying.

mikelowry 01-23-08 04:17 PM

Definitely a 2 disc purchase for me.

Maxflier 01-23-08 04:40 PM

I kind of want to see this because it does look interesting, but I have been turned off of watching anything King related since watching Dreamcatcher which is in my top 3 worst movies I have ever seen. Should I bother or is it not worth my time?

Kal-El 01-23-08 04:54 PM

One of my favorites from '07, as well as all time. Definite buy.

Mr. Cinema 01-23-08 05:59 PM

Very much looking forward to seeing this.

1408 was a recent King project and I quite liked it. Of course, The John Cusack involvement helped its case. I haven't seen this, so I can't help you out here.

I haven't seen this yet either, but I really want to because it is a collaboration between King and Frank Darabont which usually means good things ex.) The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile.

hapgilmore 01-23-08 07:01 PM

Very good movie...I can't believe Rolling Stone picked this as the worst horror film of the year...Halloween anybody???

Mammal 01-23-08 07:22 PM

I'll wait. I skipped 1408 to wait for the HD version, and thanks to Xploited, it's on the way.

argh923 01-23-08 10:57 PM

Say what? 1408 on HD? Haven't seen anything about that...your source?
