You know I'm a fan of the original, considering it one of the best horror movies out there, I hate remakes and I'm sick and tired of Hollywood remaking every horror movie from the 1980s, it's getting a bit over done.

However, I loved this movie. I went in with very low expectations but still loved it. Rob Zombie has yet to let me down with one of this movies. It was a fun ADDITION to the original Halloween. Although I don't think the girl who played Laurie was all that good.

I fully expect this movie to be complete sh*t; however curiosity kills the cat; so I’ll be buying the 2-disc Unrated DVD when it comes out.

Also, keep in mind that just because a movie is bad doesn’t mean there isn’t going to be people that didn’t like it. A lot of films that aren’t very good have a cult fan base. I hate remakes and I don’t like how Hollywood is trying to remake every horror movie ever made (like fu*king Child’s Play; which has only had 5 films in the series) but some haven’t been completely horrible The Hills Have Eyes is one of the very few remakes that was actually better than the original. The 03’ remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn’t as good as the original but it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

Planet 9 from Outer Space is probably the worst made movie in history; but it's so god damn awful; it's great!

While I will admit that I was seriously disappointed with the film in theaters (but then again I highly doubt my expectations could have been met) I am very very curious to see the directors cut of the film as well as listen to the commentary.

I am a huge fan of John Carpenter and even took an "auteur studies" class of his films last year - so any variation on his films are interesting to me.

Additionally while I agree that this movie is kinda on the sucky side, for today's generation of movie-goers it probably a better introduction to the world of Michael Myers than the original 70s version, which surprisingly many college students actually have a hard time sitting through.

I liked it!
I thought it was the 2nd best in the HALLOWEEN movies.
And I would buy it.
I liked that they used the right mask and used the original music theme too.

It matters less to me that Halloween is a remake of a classic -- don't get me wrong, Carpenter is potentially my favorite filmmaker and I love Halloween -- since it sounds like Zombie made enough changes to the plot and story to, in my mind, justify a cinematic retelling of the same thing. Mainly I am interested to see how Zombie follows up The Devil's Rejects, which just totally came out of left field for me. I hated House of 1000 Corpses, but The Devil's Rejects was kinda great.

Guess that's what I'll be doing too.

I don't think Weinsteins have picked a format yet for HD movies...

Well it starts off that way but then becomes Halloween in 40 minutes. If he would have kept it on the path of the first half we would have had a winner.

I'm a big fan of the series so I am defenitly going to be buying this one but ONLY to go with the collection. I didn't see this in the theaters because I didn't think it looked good but yeah I am only getting it on DVD because it goes with the collection and it's a Director's Cut (i'm a sucker for DC's) otherwise I would pass up on it.

Think about that: they released "Halloween" in August. Pretty dumb, huh? They were looking for a summer hit with "Halloween".....
... and they got their summer hit. It made over $60 million and didn't have to go head-to-head with the (in recent years) more established Saw series in October. What's your point?

(as for releasing a movie titled Halloween in summer, only the first four flicks were released around Halloween. Get informed before you pretend to be an expert.)

I don't know about 5, but part 6 came out around Halloween.

As others have pointed out, the Saw series pretty much owns theaters around Halloween (for horror fans, anyway). Also, Oct. 31 sort of acts as an expiration date for a Halloween film. It's the same reason Christmas movies start getting released a month and a half before Christmas.

I remember reading that SAW IV actually was the main reason this film was released in August. Also the previous two films in the series were released in August, and both did rather well (considering) in the box office. Although, I am surprised the movie wasn't re-released limitedly for this week and next... They could have easily made another million or two...

Man, that cover looks so extreme. I'm so scared just by looking at that boxart I'm not going to bother buying this thing.

Darth Maher,
Every time they make a sequel and the mask doesn't look right I think "Why don't they just get a william shatner mask and try to do what they did in 1978!?" so yeah, if someone ever found one that would rock my world...
Do they sell the William Shatner Capt. Kirk mask today?
Or has it changed since the 70's?
Because I would rather buy that and paint the mask with flat white paint than buy those cheap looking M. Myers masks.

I just saw the workprint (special thanks to "M.A.P." for slipping me a copy of the workprint!), and I must say that the theatrical cut REALLY sucks to me now! It sucked before, but compared to the workprint?!? How in the HELL did they convince Rob to butcher it so bad?!? The workprint is EXCELLENT, and I loathed the theatrical version. I hope the "Unrated" edition turns out to be the workprint...but I doubt it, from the specs I see here.

DAMN!

Yeah, the unrated really should be the workprint but, you know that won't be happening. We can all just cross our fingers here.

Yeah, the workprint is much, much better. I love the opening title sequence when he is following the bully set to the Halloween theme.

actually the internet has a way of making things seem more hated than they really are. A lot of people on the internet are obsessed with negativity and those who are negative are always the most vocal about it. If you look at all the negative posts about RZ's Halloween (as well as a lot of other movies) , most of them are from the same few posters.
