On a slightly unrelated note...
I wonder how many peple actually own the original William Shatner mask that they used in the first Halloween.
Wouldn't it be cool to be going though your parents old junk in the attic one day and come across it?

I would love to know who took home the original mask used during filming. I think in a commentary or interview someone mentions that it was stolen several weeks before Part II filmed or something. It's one of those things where you know someone from the production made off with it, but it's never been seen since to my knowledge.
Darth Maher,
Every time they make a sequel and the mask doesn't look right I think "Why don't they just get a william shatner mask and try to do what they did in 1978!?" so yeah, if someone ever found one that would rock my world...

With H20, they apparently didn't want to pay William Shatner for the rights to his mask, so they just made one that "kind of" looked like it. Then a few weeks into filming, they decided to change it. So they ended up using 4 different mask designs through out the movie, including a CGI mask during one scene! It's really weird. I remember the first time I saw H20, I thought "Am I crazy, or does Michael's mask keep changing?"

• Re-Imagining HALLOWEEN documentary
• A Conversation With Rob Zombie featurette
• Meet the Cast featurette
• The Many Masks of Michael Myers featurette

Did I read that correctly, the Unrated will be letterbox only? Does that mean unanamorphic?

This movie wasn't faithful to the original. Zombie might as well have made his own character and released this under a different name. I don't expect a copy of the original movie but if you're going to remake a classic, at least hold true to the nature of Michael being pure evil. In Zombie's remake, he's clearly a sap who just snaps.
And why is Zombie obsessed with trailer park trash characters, everyone speaking in non-stop profane language, and all mean having long hair. This movie really wasn't much different than his other two.
I didn't hate this movie, but didn't love it. I just feel he had a good opportunity to do something great and he squandered it. All he did was take characters from his other movies and slap them into the Halloween world.

"Re-establishes Mr. Zombie's Status As Modern American Horror's Most Eccentric And Surprising Filmmaker."
Does anyone else find this quote equally parts funny, odd and stupid? Not the quote in its entirety... as in I'm not arguing (or agreeing) that he is horror's most eccentric and surprising filmmaker.
What I find weird is the part about "Re-establishing". I haven't seen Halloween although I will on DVD - I enjoyed H1000C and really enjoyed TDR. So a total of 3 movies. And yet, "RE-establish?" As in, he had once established himself and now he has again? Although most agree that The Devil's Rejects was the better of his two previous films?
Also, I find it funny that he is called Mr. Zombie.
At any rate I am not a big fan of cover quotes but especially when they are this thoughtless. It won't stop me from seeing Mr. Zombie's film, however.

I wish the movie was released as single-disc WS theatrical and two-disc theatrical/DC like the 1408 DVD. The way it sounds, I'll have to pick up two versions for what may be two drastically different films.

Glad to hear of a 2-disc release, rather than the single-disc mentioned in the article linked in the opening post.
The terminology is curious, but I don't think it means anything more than the unrated cut will be available in widescreen only.

Just a note on the release dates for this movie, and how completely clueless the guys running the studios are. For the theatrical release, they released "Halloween" in August.
Think about that: they released "Halloween" in August. Pretty dumb, huh? They were looking for a summer hit with "Halloween".....
Now they're releasing the "Halloween" DVD, when? Around the actual day of freaking' Halloween to catch those in the spirit of the holiday??? At least sometime in October??? Nope, they're releasing it a few days before Christmas. "Halloween" coming out just in time for fucking Christmas.
Am I the crazy one or are they begging people to ignore this movie?? I mean, jeez.

Yea this has been a disaster from the beginning. Crazy release dates. a WorkPrint cut, Directors Cut, Theatrical Cut. Obviously something isn't right. Oh yea, its the entire idea of this movie.

Not to be negative or anything, and to each his own, but I'm really suprised to hear so many people saying they're gonna buy this. I thought the general universal consensus was that this was one of the worst movies ever.

i'm getting it for sure...
i liked it...
i don't go to horror movie remakes/tributes expecting a complex and subtle masterpiece of human drama... FE - 'Ikiru'...
since i knew Andrei Tarkovsky, Arira Kurosawa, or Ingmar Bergman, Marty Scorsese or etc. weren't at the helm directing...
i expected a Zombie horror movie...
and that's what it was...
a good time and a good horror flick...
seeing people get into critically reviewing the subtleties of character development, and theme analysis, and etc. on a damn Rob Zombie horror film always gives me a laugh...

I bet that the additional 11 minutes of footage is just an extension of the scene when Myers is slamming that log into the ceiling. The scene only lasted for an eternity...
As much as I did not enjoy the movie at all in the theaters, I am perversely interested in seeing the directors cut. Though this is definitely a rental...
Pretty nice extras on this disc, though... especially knowing that the threat of a re-release seems to hover over Mr. Zombie's movies.
