Ocean's Twelve is the most brilliant art movie ever to be sold as blockbuster entertainment to an unwitting public.

So, I read on DVD Active that the trilogy giftset will only have extras added on to O11 on O12 for the HD and BR? If so, that sucks. Guess I'll just be getting O13 then...

No, folks, it's worse: There is a commentary, by Soderbergh and two other crew members, but it's hi-def exclusive: only Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will be getting it. This is a huge rip-off.

Well, guess it's only O13 for me... What a shame.

Well, I got an HD-DVD player and have pre-ordered the trilogy.

I seriously hope this isn't true. This is getting me so f*cking pissed off. I hate Blu-Ray and HD-DVD both and because of this shit I will never but one of their payers or disks. I will pray to the gods of DVD that both Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will die.
Sorry but as much money as I have spent on DVD's and WB DVD's in particular it is bullshit that they are pissing on me now by offering exclusives in high def formats when there is no excuse not for the commentary to be featured on standard DVD. NO COMMENTARY ON STANDARD DVD=NO SALE!!!!!!

Same way I feel. I’m still going to be getting Ocean’s 13 on DVD because I want too see it but when studios start pissing all over the customers who have been buying standard DVDs for years, it’s fu*king annoying as all hell. I hope Blu-Ray & HD DVD die a slow (well I hope it dies fast, you get my drift), painful death.

I’m sure some HD DVD/Blu-Ray supporter will say that I’m wrong for wanting the 2 “next gen” formats to die but if they are going to include material for just the 2 new formats & not include the feature (‘s) on the SD DVD version, then I think I have a valid reason for wanting the new formats to go away.

Amazon has this picture for the SD trilogy set...

...but does anyone have any other info about the packaging? Is it just the three movies bundled in a slip case?

Still bummed about not getting the commentary on the SD, but it's not the end of the world.

Future Shop has another exclusive steelbook for Ocean's 13 next week. Hmm, now that they've started releasing steelbooks for every single major release (they're also releasing one for Shrek the Third, they did one for Ratataouille, Transformers, and Spider-man 3, and they're doing one for The Bourne Ultimatum and POTC: At World's End) their steelbooks don't seem as special any more. Just feels like a blatant ploy to charge the high price for the same product. I never thought I'd say this, but I think I'm getting burnt out on steelbooks ...

And sure enough i ended up buying an HD-DVD player...It does still piss me off that the HD version of this offers an exclusive commentary and documentary but maybe when that version drops in price I might buy it...

DVDs had more stuff on them than VHS. You still moved onto DVD, right?

It's still kind of crappy that they left it off the original release. I like what they've done with Jarhead and Cinderella Man: have all the extras from the impossible-to-find limited editions but all on one disc (instead of two).

But $50 for all three Ocean's movies is a great deal to me.

FYI Walmart has a poster advertising a free poker handheld game exclusive with Ocean 13 next week, not a bad exclusive, better than the worthless toys!

I understand why people would be upset that the SD doesn't include the extras on the HD DVD version, but look at price difference: HD DVDs cost A LOT more than SD. And on the flip side, the SD of Planet Earth got an entire extra disc than those of us in the HD DVD world, so it's not only you getting shafted.

Totally agree with you, though i still like to collect them. But yeah steelbooks just aren't 'special' anymore.

But since i only have the stupid snapper case of the first movie and don't have the second one i'll skip the steelbook () and go with the trilogy pack which is hopefully not just those two snapper cases bundled in a box.

The Future Shop flyer lists the trilogy pack as containing 3 discs. But they also list Ocean's 13 standalone as 2-discs. Just like the X-Men trilogy pack looks like they're just including disc one for the two disc release.

Hmm it does say that on the futureshop website but i really don't think there are 2 discs worth of extras. And i really doubt futureshop got an exclusive steelbook AND extra disc.

Yeah, I just checked on dvdempire also. It is just one disc. I guess that's a typo on Future Shop's part. If I weren't so hard-pressed to find space for new DVDs I might actually consider picking up the trilogy boxset but as it stands now I'll have to hold off.

Count me in the boat that already own the first two. I will pick up the third, but probably just the regular edition. As some have said, the steelbooks are getting to be a real common occurance, and not that "special" anymore. Plus, I'vge already got the other two in a case together, so I will jsut put the third in the same case, and won't use up anymore shelf space.

I've always enjoyed Oceans series even on repeated viewings. I'll be picking up the trilogy pack.

A quick question about the trilogy boxset: does it only include the standard versions of all three films? Because I'm looking at all the store exclusives and Target seems to have a two disc, with the second disc being a documentary that is included (I believe) on the HD versions but I also assumed it came with the standard trilogy set as well. Can anyone confirm?

I stopped by Future Shop over the lunch hour. Their Ocean's 13 steelbook actually *does* contain 2 discs. The bonus second disc is an exclusive and contains a "Masters of the Heist" documentary. So there you have it, a steelbook and a bonus disc!

That doc is also on the Target exclusive, I think.

Speaking of which, my friend bought his copy from Target and tried to put the free download of the movie on his computer, but couldn't. He sent me this e-mail:

looks like i don't have the right code to download the free version. it just says "promo code area." WTF?

Not much info provided, but does anyone know what he's doing wrong? It sounds like no code was provided or something.

Also, I'll ask again since the set is out: How is the trilogy packaged?
