Did anyone else notice that the blu-ray trilogy set at Target is in one case with a slip cover as opposed to 3 single cases in a hard box? Thought that was a little odd.

Hello! Honestly we weren't given much indication on that, we got 3 of each at my store, and they haven't moved an inch. Typically when we sell something it's replenished in the next warehouse shipment. Until we move one, I won't know. However, I'll see what more I can find out about them.

Paging DVDtalk member DB27, any idea about how limited these giftsets were?

Here's a pic of the Spider-Man bank at Kay Bee.

Also f.y.e. sells a black costume Spider-Man paperweight for $25. It looks like the same one that comes with the DVD. They also have a red & blue Spidey and a comic based Venom vs Spider-Man for the same price.

Not to confuse ... the one you shared is different from the DVD figure

Please see comparison

Heh, I wasn't sure if it wasn't the same figure. I just assumed it was unlikely they would create an entirely different sculpt for the same character on the same base in a very similar pose. Shows what I know.

Picked up Wal-Mart's one-disc set with the bonus DVD and comic book. Didn't think paying 3 bucks more for the 2-disc edition was worth it.

Here's a scan of the front and back of Wal-Mart's bonus DVD, and what's on it.

Believe it or not....... the Best Buy mask actually fit my big head.

haha... when I first tried it, there was no way that thing was gonna fit, so I just used it as a pouch for my iPod & car stereo. I guess this stretched it out a little... the opening got bigger, but still wouldn't fit. So I pulled and tugged a little bit... and it fit... ahahahah!

Hi db,

thanks again for that response, however I got word from Sony and Monogram about how limited the sets were.

Ok.. Here are the gathered facts:

1. TWEC is the winning bidder to sell these giftsets in US retail
2. These were not distributed at each TWEC stores (Some carry it in stock, some by special order)
3. The action figure inside are made of paperweight resin and designed specifically for the DVD Giftset
4. Figure design are made by Monogram but the figures/distribution are sole property of Sony Pictures
5. And the numbers produced... each character set are limited to 5,000

The additional bonus if these were pre-ordered prior to its release is this lithograph:

Hi. I picked up the Target edition the other day and was wondering if anyone noticed these white lines or streaks on the front of the package? I when through a few of them and thought I picked out a perfect cover. But when I got home and examed it a bit closer, I found a tiny streak at the corner.. I'm extremely picky, so thinking about exchanging it if they have any more left when I make my next trip..

I think someone in the thread mentioned the HMV 3 disc is different. I can confirm they have different covers and packaging..

It might be hard to tell, but the HMV one is a box that fully incloses the contents while the Target has an opening on the right to slip the DVD and booklet out.

There's no indication of the contents of the 3rd disc, but a picture of what it might look like. Does anyone that have the Target set open confirm if this is what the 3rd disc looks like?

Thanks

Thanks for the confirm. I'm not planning on opening the HMV copy as I might return it.. BTW Xage, do you actually open all the variant copies you have? If not, do you open any of of them and how do you decide which one you want to open and watch?

I already watched the Target Bonus Disc. It has a 30-minute long "making of" featurette, the top 5 webisodes from the "Spin your own Webisodes" contest, and the awards ceremony.

I opened the 3disc Target edition.. My criteria in opening varies though most of the time for no reason I open one for my viewing satisfaction.

I bought the BestBuy, Target, Walmart and K-Mart sets. However, I threw away the K-Mart CD-ROM in a fit of rage because it completely sucks (it just has 5 retarded "games").

I can confirm that this is the same disc included with the HMV sets in Canada.

Hmm, so is this Target bonus disc any good? Is it worth the extra, what, $5-7 dollars at HMV over Futureshop's steelbook?

The 30 minute doc is fairly good, but an EPK -type. I have not watched the 2nd disc, but I would assume that much of that is covered on the 2nd disc. The special effects that they go over are pretty much on the main action points of the film. Then there's the "its great to be back we're so much a family and Sam Rami is a living god!" I thought that the webisodes were awful. People just took their spiderman toys and made a home movie. Goodie. Overall, I would still take the 2-disc over the 1-disc. And if the 2-disc and 3-disc are the same price, might as well get the 3-disc.
